Hi Nikki - my Abby's Mom is an F1b and her Dad is a golden retriever... so that makes my Abby 3/8th poodle and 5/8th retriever. The thing is she is really starting to curl up at 7 months and she doesn't shed at all. I think she is absolutely beautiful, but I may be a bit partial...LOL

Denise. Abby is beautiful. I need to get some new pics of Macy uploaded. I can't find my memory card rght now. Not good. My girls dad was a doodle and mom a retriever. My girl sheds alot though. It's driving me crazy. I brush her coat everyday and get lots of hair. I notice alot of hair on my fleece jacket also. I'm hoping she will stop shedding when her adult coat comes in. But, I think I may be dreaming. How much does Abby weigh? Macy is almost 5 months an only weighs 20lbs.

I don't know how I lucked out with her not shedding considering she doesn't have much poodle in her - I brush her out a couple times a week. She never has mats either. She just turned 7 months old and weighs close to 50lbs. (I have a regular scale - not digital so the needle keeps bouncing around while I'm trying to look down and hold on to this big girl! LOL) Your Macy is a petite little girl. She is a cutie, too. Is her coat getting curly next to the skin? I noticed this on Abby at about 5 months. I'm thinking when she gets her first body trim that her coat will be curlier than it looks now. I trimmed the top of her head and it got curlier. I guess their coats can take on many changes in the first year.
It looks like you and I are the only 2 with less poodle than retriever. I guess typically they don't breed back to a retriever because of the shedding issue. Abby's Mom was really curly - looked more like a poodle. I have no clue what Abby's siblings look like. I would love to find out tho... maybe some of them shed.

this pup looks just like my puppies from the last litter-some were straight and shed but the wavy ones did not shed!!!!!
it's funny that they come from the same litter but you would never know by how they look-I will post pictures soon!

Hi Nikki,

My new addition's mom was a 50/50 curly doodle and his dad was a pure retriever. He is almost 5 months and has a very short golden coat which has been shedding a little but nothing to major. I'm really curious as to what he is going to look like by the age of 1. His coat has changed a little bit but it seems to have some wave to it but mainly straight. I haven't been able to find any pictures of other doodles that look similar to my carlos. I was excited to see this group to find some other doods that look like mine.

It is true that many breeders do not breed their doodles back to retrievers for fear of the litter all having straight coats that shed alot but I chose this type because I wanted a more laid back retriever "doganality" rather than a hyper poodle type and I just love him..he is very very smart and easy to train. He hates being told no though, he gets madat me lol!

Jake's mom was an F1 Golden doodle and his dad was a standard poodle. He is almost 13 months and weighs about 50 lbs.

He has a fleece coat that she's a little, but not too bad. ( I get doggy dust bunnies).
