Just to get to know each other a bit better. I'd like to ask everyone... what do you do for a living NOW and what would you do if money weren't an issue?
I'm a dietitian (work for a hospital with occasional private clients) currently. Have been one for 5 years...my first and only career.
However, if money weren't an issue and I could switch careers with a snap of the fingers, here are some things I'd like to do:
1) Dog training
2) Dog photography
3) Doodle breeder (maybe someday...but too time consuming and pricey to start before I have kids or maybe even after!)
4) Stay at home tv watcher/book reader
5) Professional traveler with Clark and our doodles =)
What about you? What do you do now and what WOULD you do if you could do anything?
I hear ya! But THEN what would you do? Would you travel? Sit at home and watch sports? Start a doodle commune? Become a philanthropist? Move to Fiji and sit on the beach or surf all day?
How old are you Ron? (You don't have to answer, but I had to ask!) My hubby and I don't have kids either, but plan to possibly starting next year. You sound like me...happy with the cushy no-kids life you have now and slightly apprehensive about how they could just RUIN all the comfort you've got! LOL..
But we plan to travel WITH our kids if and when we can. A lot of parents do and I think it should be doable.
It ALL comes together, and they grow up so fast, that the years they really need you are gone in no time. I can't imagine my life without kids or dogs, and you will too...you'll see:)
Adina....NEXT YEAR, WOW! Let us know when the day comes!!!
My friend said, "kids grow up and become independant. Dogs grow up and become dependant. Kids are easier." Still, we got a dog and aren't doing the kids thing despite the fact that my entire career is about birth and babies.
Well, I was a SAHM for 10 years, now I work very part-time out of my home in the field of Social Work.
If money weren't an issue (like the loto) First, my husband would quit his job!! Then my husband and I would buy homes fix them up and sell them. Some homes in our town are beautiful, but not taken care of, and it would be so nice to fix them ALL! We have always wanted to do this when the kids got older...but the market is horrible!
I would also love to give alot to charity. I do volunteer alot, but wish I could give more money. I would love to fix up our Youth Center in our town.
Maybe move out in the counrty and have more animals:)
That sounds WONDERFUL! I think fixing up houses is a great idea and sounds fun (at least in theory...I would have to be able to HIRE someone for a lot of the physical labor part or I couldn't do it!). I totally agree with the idea of investing money to make it grow even if you have lots of it (via Lottery or business).
