Max my rescue/rehome was purchased at an upscale pet store in NJ but bred by a Nancy Locke of Corona, SD.....There is absolutely no information on this breeder anywhere on the internet so I am assuming the very worst....Just for clarification...Does anyone out there have a pup pf hers from SD or know anything about her and her breeding practices?
Hi Dr. Jack,
Welcome to Doodle Kisses! This is a friendly place where Doodle lovers congregate. I hope you can post more so we can see you as friendly and supportive as well. ;-)
First off, the hypocracy and idiocy and other names that you label site users here as. You aren't making any friends doing that. And you are making some large assumptions. First you assume the shelter kills are the result of people NOT going to shelters/rescues. That might be true. It also quite probably is NOT true. Read Nathan Winograd's "Redemption" and then we'll talk some more. He has some credentials to back up his assertion that the problem is a shelter problem... not a lack of interested homes. Does that mean we have to quit donating time and money (as this site and many on it do) to rescue organizations? No. But it DOES mean that you need to quit accusing others of hypocracy.
I'll make a good assumption about you here (and then I'll call you a hypocrite right back). I'll assume that you actually like people. You commented on the deaths in impoverished nations... I too am appalled AND contribute. But here's where I'll assume you are a hypocrite. I'm pretty sure you aren't living like Mother Theresa. Or Ghandi. You probably even own a nice tie! I'm even pretty sure you aren't giving even 25% of your income to charity. (Even this hypocritical little web site does that.) So quit being a hypocrite! Go feed the children!
And do you have kids of your own? Damn you for not adopting a child from Malawi (or wherever the celebrities are adopting from these days)! How selfish of you. If you don't have kids... you really should go on a campaign and call all natural parents hypocrites! You would be right.
...but wait!... that makes ME a hypocrite because I'm not living like Mother Theresa either. And I have a ton of nice ties. So you see the problem. Very few of us are NOT hypocritical in some way.
So quit calling names and spewing vitriol. It is not acceptable. Enjoy this site as a happy doodle enthusiast or don't... and leave.

What I don't understand, and please forgive my ignorance or if this point was already brought up, is WHY would any reputable breeder or kennel WANT to sell their doodles to a broker for a fraction of the price when they can get 1500-3000 for them by selling them directly to families? The reasons for a puppy mill to use a broker are obvious to me. But I don't think there is one person in the world that would voluntarily sell something for MUCH less than the current going rate.
I just got home from work and read through today's activity on this discussion and found it funny that the complaintant who joined yesterday and a phony doctor who just joined today both found this one discussion to complain on. Is there no other interesting discussion these "2" might find interesting. They seem to have much to slam others about without even getting to know those people. Thier own pages tell another story. Maybe those who have no clue, should keep their negativity to themselves.
Just to clarify the continuous remarks I don't know the Dr but that person raises some good points. Someone wrote about selling to individuals. The perfect market doesn't always exist. If you wanted to travel to Corona SD its about 2-3 hours from Major airports. In the past she was selling and sending them on the airlines but with the cost of everything people were finding local breeders since the price of shipping became so high. But still accomadates those who are willing to pay the extra cost. I'm sure she would love to sell to you and I'm sure you would get a better deal. Paying 1200-2800 for a dog is unreal. I'm glad all of you care about the doodle line and for awhile they were the cool dog but since the market is so flooded people have started to look for a cooler dog. Like I said before my parents are not internet folks but have been in business for 20 years and have had the doodle line for about 5 years I believe. They love their dogs and like all of you do feel puppy mills should be shutdown. Sorry if I offended any of you but saw the original question and wanted to respond. If you need records call her. Personally I would rather talk to someone in person if I had a question than talk behind their back on a website. It sound like with all this publicity she needs a website.
David, no-one on this site began it as a way to "slam" your mother. If you had read through the entire discussion, you would have seen that it began as a way to find out information about a puppy purchased in a pet store. The facts were: the puppy was purchased from a pet store; the breeder was listed as Nancy Locke of Carona SD; there was no ready information to be found; the pups owner asked for help; others started digging to locate the info. What followed was a discussion as to the information that was found.
Since I have been on this forum (since May), the one thing I really liked about it was, people didn't slam each other. People asked for advice, help, opinions, whatever, and others answered. No-one has ever put down or laughed at another persons ideas. If they didn't agree, they kept their mouths shut. Everyone is entitled to their opinions but on this site everyone is treated fairly. Read through some of our discussions and you will see. But facts are facts.
I am sure your apology is heartfelt, however, you began it as a put down. You put down us, our opinions and our doodles. I don't understand why you keep coming back for more.
I'm glad to hear that your doodle is in good health and a wonderful dog....but the bottom line is that this breeder sells her puppies to brokers who in turn sell to pet shops and pet stores...That is ALL that brokers do.........Max, this particular rescue of mine was originally purchased at a pet shop......A reputable beeeder would NEVER sell a puppy to a broker.....
