UTI'S /Female problems

I've been trying to find some information on a condition called "tucked vulva". I've searched old discussions on Doodle Kisses' forums and drew a blank. On a related Doodle site it was considered a bad trait or flaw.Our Lucy's vulva or girl highnee as my granddaughter calls it is inverted and partially obstructed by a fold of skin. She hasn't had any UTI infections yet but this area stays wet and it is a matter of time before this will become a problem. She is seven months now and has not yet been spayed but I'm planning on doing that ASAP> My vet says that he will reconstruct that area when we spay her but one thing I've read on the subject says that letting her come into heat can sometimes correct it. So I don't know what is the best way to go since removing that extra fold of skin will have to be a tougher recovery. I wrote to the breeder we got her from and he did not reply ( Mountain Creek Labrodoodles in SC) . That bugged me more than her problem!!! I love her sooo much and did not want anything from the breeder except a little advice. So if anyone has any sugestions or experience with this I'd love to hear it! Our little girl has the exact same issue. Bailey is only 9 months old and has had a couple of infections. We have swabs that we use once a week and our Vet thinks she will grow into that additional skin. If she doesn't she will need surgery.

Hi Lucy, I just wanted to suggest seeing another vet before you do surgery. They might recommend waiting until she has had a heat cycle to see if swelling might help her to pop out a bit.

Many thanks to everyone who's been responding to the discussion I began on Sunday May 17th.Keep on making suggestions if you have any experiences to share. I appreciate them greatly!! If anyone got the idea that I was trying to trash the breeder I got my dog from I would like to say that wasn't my intent. They are responsible breeders who care deeply about their dogs and puppies.Their dogs are raised in a loving home with attention to both physical and cognitive development.Their home was impeccable and their dogs live as part of their family.Our communication problem should not have been part of the discussion and I apologize for mentioning it in my discussion.

Can I ask for an update on this issue? My 15 week old goldendoodle has an inverted vulva also. No infections so far. The vet said it's a 50/50 chance that letting her come into heat may fix the issue. She didn't think surgery was an option. So she left it at my decision whether to spay or wait for til after first heat. So I was just wondering if you would share your experience.

I was just reading about this condition, as my 14 week old puppy is having some 'female' issues. I read that it was advisable to wait until after the first heat cycle to spay, because during the heat cycle, the area swells, and the vulva may pop out, and stay out. Just thought I'd pass that along.
