This is a first for me, but now that summer is here be sure to check you dogs skin closely for
dark spots, esp if they have a new short haircut. Skeet just had a black spot removed that was
malignant melanoma. It was on his shoulder and came up very quickly. I bath him often so I would have seen it immediately. It looked like a tick. He is doing fine.

Thanks for the info and reminder to check my Lucy's skin. It is hard to do with her fur coat, but like you said when she is wet, which is alot of the time since it is getting warmer, it is easier to see. Glad that Skeet is OK. what a scary thing.
OMG! I am so happy t hear that Skeet is okay! Does the vet suggest further treatment?
Samantha is chocolate and it is hard to see her skin unless I go a square inch at a time. I guess I know what I will be doing every Sunday morning instead of reading the paper. I did buy suncreen for her and must admit i did forget when we were at the beach but I never will again.
THANK YOU for the reminder!
Very scary thing. I hope he is fine. I've never really checked Yankee but I will now.
That's very scary, and I want to also thank you for reminding us; Jack is my first light colored dog. I'm very glad Skeet is okay.
Thanks for the reminder. Glad to hear Skeet's going to be ok. A Rhodesian Ridgeback on our flyball team had a spot on his ear. When they tested it, they determined it was a malignant melanoma, and the poor guy had to have his whole ear removed. The docs think that should take care of it, but that's got to be tough. It's just the ear cartiledge that was removed, so he still has the ear drum, and should still be able to hear. I've never known a dog who has gone through this, so I'm curious to see how it looks.
They think that the removal will be all that is necessary. Skeet has very light skin and not so thick of a coat. Usually they
look for them on the mouth or paws. Thank-you for your good wishes.
