Abby is almost one years old.
I mixed 2 tbs soft food ( smart balance lamb) with her dry food) and at night she started to have the runs and throw ups.
Could this be from just this small amount of wet food, which is a very good company, too?
Maybe. But usually diarrhea and vomiting together is a sign of something else--maybe a blockage. Is she projective vomiting? Is her energy normal? How long ago did you start adding in the soft food? How long ago did the runs/vomiting start?
I would call the vet and ask. I don't know how other vet clinics are but mine are always happy to call me back if they can't talk right when I call.
every time I have had a problem with Beck getting the runs or vomiting I put him on a diet of boiled white chicken meat and rice. If it stops, then I add in his kibble 1/4 of the normal amt. the first day, 1/2 the 2nd day etc. until he's eating his normal amount of kibble. Then try the canned food again. I don't know what else to suggest, that always seems to work, last time this happened it turned out he ate the stuffing from a toy, after 2 days of having the runs he finally pooped all the stuffing out and he was fine again
A few times it has been stuff he ate that he shouldn't have- once it was deer poop, it made him really sick for a few days, another time he de-stuffed a toy and ate all the filling, he was sick until he pooped it out, then he got hold of a ham hock and chewed it up into little tiny pieces and ate the whole thing, his tummy was full of ham bone; I had him x-rayed to make sure he didn't have any blockage, but it was just a tummy full of bone lol..
And, since we got him he has gotten the runs and been scratching himself alot, I tried several different kinds of food, but now I have him on TOTW, I alternate between two varieties, and so far he's doing great on it
