Last day of school

I have 2 more weeks until June 12th. How about you?

Here in Salinas, CA, we also get out on June 12th. I am subbing every day this week, but hopefully will be finished after that. I'm ready for a summer vacation. My classes (weaving and swimming) ended last week.

June 12th - But I have to take the CTEL on the 13th to prove that I know how to teach ELs. How insulting after 25 years of teaching! Anyway my vacation will begin on the 14th.

I work 10 days after and 10 days before to creat report, etc... ( School Social Worker) But once students are gone, you can actually get something done. It's not so heck tick. I can't wait!!

Tomorrow (6/3) is my last day! It has been a very busy year in my first grade classroom. I can't wait to spend time at home with my family and of course, Bodi!

Only thing is that, our contract is up as of August 31st, and the nagociation is not going well.
We probably won't get raise.......

I have to go all the way until June 18th! But the kids sure seem done now! I am look forward to a week at Lake Shasta with just my husband myself and the two dogs.

I would love to meet you and your dogs, Karen. If you get out of school on June 18th, and then go to Shasta, will you be back in the Bay Area around the fourth of July? I am planning to be around this summer and can meet you somewhere. Or, would you like to come down here to play on Carmel Beach with the dogs? Is your husband also in education, or is he working during the summer?

In Wichita, KS our last day with the students was on May 29th and the 29th was our checkout day. I thought we went long this year and to hear of some of you going into June makes me feel bad for thinking our contract year was a mess (usually we get out before Memorial Weekend). We return on August 10th and the students return the 14th.

WoW! I was jealous for a second to know that you guys got out so early! But, you guys go back so early,too!!
We don't go back until 8/31. We may be going on strike, so next year, we will be in school forever......

We get out on June 12 and return on Aug. 20 - kids on the 24th. I really resent returning in August because we don't get a paycheck until Sept. 30th. It makes me feel like I am volunteering.

Ahhh, do you do the 10-month pay schedule? I always did the 12-month and would receive a summer check at the end of July and end of August. That way, I didn't have to "plan" to save for the summer. And that way there is no break in pay. Do you also get a three-week break in winter? I loved that and didn't mind coming back a little early in August to get that extra time at Christmas. It all adds up to 185 days, no matter how you break it down. I heard that this year may be cut back to 180 days, meaning the kids will be in school 175 days. Have you heard of this down your way? Anything to save a little money.
