swollen nose

Has anyone had their doodles nose turn red and swell? Half of Skeet's nose is red and swollen. It just came up over night. He doesn't seem to be in distress. Maybe he was stung or bitten by an insect. He is always sticking his nose where it doesn't belong. Should I put something on it or just leave it alone?

Got to your vet IMMEDIATELY. This could just be a bite or it could be puppy strangles. But you need to find out now. Strangles are very serious. Are the genitials swollen? Puppy love from Joy & furry folk

Skeet is 1.5 years old...aren't puppy strangles limited to pups?

I think its usually puppies but I didn't know Skeet's age nor do I know older puppies can ever get it But it should be ruled out bcs it is very serious. Anyway here's a pic. I had one that didn't look this bad but I caught it early Puppy love from Joy & furry folk

My dog used to get Maced or Pepper Sprayed by a very old angry man who rode a bicycle down my street on his way home from work ( 11pm)--Same time I was letting him out before bedtime.

His nose would swell and turn red. Could your dog have been maced?

We had a Lab (Midnight) she got into a bee's nest once, she came to the door like nothing was wrong but her face was lumpy and swollen. Maybe a bee, did get him?

Thank-you for all you help. I had never heard of strangles, but i always learn something new here. This morning it has almost disappeared. I put some aloe vera on it last night and it is still a little red but not swollen. I will watch it today and take him to the vet if it doesnt get back to normal soon.

Whew! Glad to hear it. I don't think the swelling of strangles would go down with ale vera. Its probably a bite of some kind. Is there swelling anywhere else like genitals? Feel all over his body for any other swellings or lumps. If there are no other lumps or swellings, its probably 1 bite & you can probably cross off allergies & strangles. This has happened to my dogs' faces when they've been stung by a bee. My lab mix also had an allergic reaction to something or a bite or..... One morning when we woke up he had lots of body swelling. We took him to the vet and he got a shot and pills. We never could pin down what caused it.
