My dogs have never had liver. Tonight for the first time Daisy got some liver off the table when I had to leave for a minute (she has never taken something from the table before) worried about this making her sick. Should your dog even eat liver?
About how much did she eat? Is she used to eating "real food?" If she has already adjusted to real food she should be fine. If not you may have some diarrhea troubles tomorrow. I suggest you cook up some rice and see if she will eat some of it.
Getting the pumpkin and rice will help. You might still have some diarrhea tomorrow. Keep an eye on her but she should be fine. Liver is added to dogfood and I give it to my guys all the time. If she's not used to it there may be some upset tummy.
Liver and all organ meats are okay for dogs in moderation. In RAW diets, it is recommended that organ meats make up only 10% of the total intake. Liver is extremely nutrient dense, and is forbidden for anyone whose immune system is compromised because of the fact that the liver acts as a filter for toxins in the body. Organ meats in general are also high in fat. I agree with Lynne that Daisy will probably have some tummy issues/diarrhea over the next day or two, but there won't be any permanent harm. Once she's back to normal, and you are starting to feed "real food", muscle meat would be better than organ meat until she is accustomed to a variety of foods.
Don't fear the "real food!" Just don't introduce too many new things at once or you won't be able to tell if or what food she does have troubles with. Start simple and add as you go and get more comfortable. Good Luck and shout if you need anything.
