Clark brought home some yummy liquid laundry detergent a couple weeks ago. Well last week I did laundry of whites and was dismayed at how NOT clean looking they came out. I had even used bleach!
But they SMELLED heavenly. In fact I praised him several times for picking such a wonderful smelling detergent -- made our sheets smell soooo good!
The next couple loads were colors, though, so I didn't notice anything 'wrong.' Just the lovely aroma when they were done.
I was surprised at how few suds I saw in one load, but discounted it as my excessive need to see SUDS (I tend to use a little extra soap now and then, but never like in those movies where the kids pour in a whole detergent box and the washer overflows!).
So tonite I pour in the liquid for a load and there's like ONE sud. Something wasn't right.
I pick up the bottle and search its front label in hopes of seeing the word DETERGENT...but nothing...until I look toward the bottom where I find "fabric softener" written in 3 languages in semi small font.
LOL and ewwwww. No wonder my whites looked dingy...they WERE merely swished around in perfumy lotion water!
So who guessed the end of the story early on? See I never have USED liquid fabric softener so it didn't even occur to me it was not laundry soap. Ahhhh...Clark and I got a good laugh out of it and promptly went to Wal Mart tonite so I could finish the load I had just started.
Oh me too! Have been an addict to liquid fabric softener for years and put my nose up at the 'new' designer fragrances but now LOVE them! I hope they don't come and go as a fad because I use different fragances for different stuff! It's great! I even had a friend who asked me how do I make my pool towels smell so great, she said we sounded like a commercial!
My dh also had some problems with fabric softener. We used to have a washer with a fabric softener dispenser but had to replace it. Several weeks later I happened to be there when he was putting a load into the washer and he unscrewed the top of the agitator post and poured a cap of fabric softener inside! Sure glad I caught him!
