If both parents are f1b's what does that make the pup?

Also what does litter size mean? Do small litters mean a problem?

Somebody told me that F1b's are usually smaller than F1's. Why would that be?
I think that is only in the case of a standard goldendoodle being bred back to a miniature poodle. If you take a standard goldendoodle and breed it with a standard poodle you would get a big f1b. Infact their is an enormous one in this town... youd think it was a curly coated pony - lol.
I think it's possible that the average F1B LD is smaller than the average F1 LD, because labs are usually bigger, or at least heavier, dogs than standard poodles. With an F1B, three of the grandparents are poodles, where with the F1's it's 50%-50%.
While we are on this subject..............

It seems to me it is more common to breed 2 labradoodles and not as common to breed 2 goldendoodles? For example; When I see multi-generation doodles they are typically a Labradoodle x Labradoodle.

Is there a reason or preference to choose this type of breeding only? Are goldendoodle x goldendoodle not preferred or do not make a good match? Just curious.
Good question. It probably cancels itself out or something and you end up with a straight retriever or a straight poodle. LOL. I dont know! I dont care because haven't you heard? I HAVE A POODLELOADED F2!!!! LMAO
It's not recommended to breed any two F1's together, whether they're LD's or GD's. The laws of genetics would result in 25% of the resulting puppies ending up like purebred retrievers and 25% as purebred standard poodles, on average. Higher generations are different.
Yeah...typically the breeders who do this aren't among those well known.. BUT I have to say that if I were a breeder with time and money to put into along term program...I would do F1 x F1...pick the bestest ;-) F2s and then breed F2's to F2's....pick the bestest F3's and so on... I would want to make an F1 looking dood that bred true =)
this is how it should be done! many fast track to correct coat so that they have litters with less hair coats but in the ideal world you want breedings like this. There are actually some very well known breeders who do this, they just dont put it on their site, they keep the best and place the shedders for very little and move on.
usually what you are seeing when you see Labradoodle to Labradoodle is Australian Labradoodles, there are some American Labradoodle breeders that do breed Labradoodle to Labradoodle but most are F1b X F1b.

You have to look at Mendal's theroy to understand the outcome.
