Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I would be greatly interested in any Professional opinions or even Amateur opinions on this subject.

A "friend" had posted on another forum blasting me over my original post concerning Heritage Specialty Dogs and Mary R. Walker.
John Fleming is the person who posted the following:
This woman is full of crap, there has been no investigation into Heritage Specialty Dogs of North Carolina. This is from a person who does not know what to do about coming up with money, she has slandered this company for no reason and anyone who is going to stand behind her is just as bad. I have known the owner of this company for many years and know how and where the dogs are trained. people who just want a quick buck are apt to say anything about anyone, you should know that there will be consequences regarding this untrue allegation, This lady need's to get her facts straight before she accuses anyone of what she is saying.
Here is my response: Mr Fleming, I'm sure you are not a professional or you wouldn't have posted such generalities against me here. What evidence other than heresay do you have against me to call me slanderous and "full of crap"? I can assure YOU that there is overwelming evidence and facts to prove what I have posted here is true. And by the way, posting facts and stating you should do research before having any dealings with a company is NOT slanderous. As far as "making a quick buck," I can assure you, sir, I have taken a LOSS in money in dealing with Mary R. Walker. I have personally seen these "so called trained" Service dogs and with my creditials, SIR, I can assure you they are NOT TRAINED ACCORDING TO DELTA SOCIETY standards, AKC standards for Canine Good Citizen or even BASIC OBEDIENCE. "Making a quick buck? Sir, I have not charged nor will I charge anyone who brings me their "trained Service Dog" from this organization to check them out on the proper training, socialization, and good manners they need to know BEFORE even attempting to proceed with specialty tasks. Any reputable dog trainer in the area without knowing the facts behind these dogs would come up with the same conclusions. Can you refute evidence from families in California, North Carolina, Pennsylvannia, and Texas all having the same story? Knowing someone for years does NOT mean that this person has not done wrong in the eyes of the law. What proven credituals do you have SIR which entitles you to make such blanketed statements against me??? I invite you to research to see if I truly am a Certified Vet. Assist., a Delta Society member in good standing, and an American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen Evaluator. Can I do the same for your credentials?? Before you start calling names and making statements you know NOTHING about, I suggest YOU get your facts straight!
I plan not to get into a war of words with this fellow but value your opinions.

Part of the beauty of the Internet is the instant communication of information and the ability to do our own research on just about any topic. That said, all evidence will also be out there for all to see and learn about...if only they take the time. Whoever is out to hurt, deceive or cheat will eventually be found out. In turn, those who expose those liars and cheaters will also get their truth across even if it is only to plant doubt. People have been bashing the dog food companies for a couple years now. Do you see any lawsuits coming out of it? They know the inferior product they try to sell to us. Since they cannot sue for slander, they go after those who do not know. But do they put their money into creating a better product? No, but they are spending money hiring people to troll the Internet and build up their products.

People in the wrong, will eventually be found out and all the friends in the world cannot change the truth. What you did was tell the truth. Did they? I wouldn't get into a "war of words" just leave it as you did and hopefully enough doubt was planted and the BBB will be on to her.
Leigh, I was suspicious of Mary Walker's "program" and credentials from the first day I became aware of her "program" here and on the DRRC. All anyone has to do is look at her posts on various forums, the info she provides about herself, and the questions she asks, to see that there is something not quite right there. Nothing sounds like it is coming from a person who even knows how to live comfortably with a pet dog, let alone train service dogs. There were also questionable affiliations and pleas for money for suspicious "rescue groups". It seems to me that quite a while back she posted something on the Zoo that sounded so strange in the context of it coming from a supposed service dog trainer, that someone there asked her what her credentials were, and it seems to me she admitted she had no formal training credentials or background.
I don't know who this guy is, but he sounds like someone who is a friend or relative of hers. I understand your outrage and need to defend yourself, but as far as I'm concerned, there is no need. Anyone who looks at you and then looks at Walker can see where the honesty, integrity, credentials, and knowledge lie.
I think your response to him was good. You're still presenting facts. And it sounds like if he does some research, he'll find a lot of the same things that you did. Even your original post a few days ago was very fact-based, and it sounds like that post was a long time coming, which to me means that you weren't comfortable making anything public until you had some facts to backup your gut feelings. I think you did everything right. I'd leave it like you did. If people read his comment and your comment, they can do their own research to determine who was the most truthful. Oh, and relating to the title of this discussion, mine is definitely an amateur opinion.
I think your response was appropriate and specific. You can't have a battle of wits with an unarmed person, so I would leave it at your present response. People who are looking into this should do some homework and they will see your information, as well as other complaints, and be able to make better decisions for themselves. You have stated facts and sowed seeds of doubt which should blossom and spread not as slander but as concerns about quality. John Flemming, if he exists, states no facts in his blog other than that he knows Mary Walker in some fashion and that you are full of crap. I have friends whom I think are great and ASSUME that they are wonderful at what they do, but do I actually know that they are skilled at their jobs - not at all.
Keep up your good work.
Leigh,
I also read your postings this week and it was evident that you had not written anything about this until you had the facts to back it up. What you wrote is to be careful of who you deal with - that is what i got from your posting.
I also am an 'amateur' who has learned through you and so many others here in DK to do my homework before getting involved with anyone expecially when it comes to Samantha.
As I am sure that you have read that Samantha came home to us via a pet store from a BYB in South Dakota. I have gotten such an education from those in the know here in DK and appreciate you sharing what you know. If you have saved 1 person from such disappoint and expense it was well worth it and John Fleming be damned!!
Adrianne
Leigh,
Keep continuing YOUR good work and forget people like this "sir" who talk without knowing all the fact and are just big mouth.
You are doing a fantastic job and we all know that. This is what integrity and honesty in a person mean.
I do agree with you 100%.

Only man people can do that. I just cannot stand someone who take advantage of the most innocent and vulnerable human being and animals in this world.
