I got my darling puppy, Chewie aka Choo Choo 4 days ago and am in love already. He is such a good boy. I am "sharing" him with my granddaughters, ages 6 & 7-1/2 who are over daily. Their parents work, but really want them to grown-up with a pet (as they did), so this is a wonderful solution for all of us.
Chewie is a F1B Goldendoodle estimated to get to approximately 30#. He loves everyone, has had minimal potty accidents indoors and now that his crate is on my bed...LOL, is sleeping all night without a peep. I'm sure I will have lots of questions as time goes on, but I'll start with two:
1. He is very itchy...scratching a lot. I don't think it's fleas and he also had his first Frontline treatment the other night. Could he have allerigies already?
2. The breeder had him eating Purina Pro Plan puppy and the Vet also insists it's a good food. I have done lots of research and don't agree. I think my vet is great...just can't understand why they don't endorse quality foods. Anyway, I have it narrowed down to a few...just can't make the decision what to switch him to. I am VERY open to suggestions and/or advice. Has anyone ever heard of Flint River Ranch? A person who trains dogs mentioned it, but I had not seen it in my research.
Looking forward to joining your doodle family and getting to know everyone!
I know there are foods that you can buy for dogs with allergies. Medi-cal has one. They use potato protein I think instead of meat protein. But I cant vouch for the food personally.
CONGRATULATIONS, Choo Choo sounds like a little doll. "Crate ON the bed" Howl Howl Howl !!!!!!!!!! Lucy slept in her crate on the floor beside my bed. LOL LOL LOL How funny. Lucy was started on Purina Pro Plan as a pup and has been on it ever since. I have tried switching her and she will not eat anything else. She does very well on it. My vet did not have a problem with it and advised me to free feed her. I buy her the Shredded Formula, chicken and rice. She Loves it.
We just recently switched to Blue Buffalo and my pack loves it. It may be coincidence but within 10 days of switching to Blue, Sherlock’s tearing eyes cleared up.
