Today, I heard of another doodle who ran off and is missing, at the mercy of everything bad that can happen to a dog. Imagine not knowing where your beloved doodle is, and not knowing how to find him. I cannot think of anything worse.
Please, if you have not already done so, have your doodle(s) microchipped TODAY. It can literally save their lives.
Thanks,
Karen

Even more important that having the procedure of microchipping done is REGISTERING it promptly. I have heard many a tale of people delaying this. I also wanted to share I was recently at a pet fair and talked to somebody about this ~ www.zoombak.com ~ check it out. Obviously this is removable in the event of theft but it is supposed to be immediate notification. I thought of it when reading the heart touching story repost the other day about the dog getting lost by the professional dog watcher. If anyone has used this please post and share your experience.

Thank you, Dianne, for pointing out the importance of registering; I had forgotten that. This is especially important in the case of an adopted or rehomed dog who has previously been chipped...the new owner needs to change the registration information.
Thanks again!
Karen
Hi Dianne, you can imagine that, as the owner of Finny, the little dog lost in the woods by professional walkers, this product interested me greatly! Thanks for posting it. I wonder if it would work in the mountains (where my cell phone won't - I shall definitely look into that). Yes, quite incredible that the walkers did not phone any professional body in relation to Finn's loss. That was left to us to do, (the minute we were informed of his loss, and a couple of hours following his disappearance), well past the 'golden hour' of opportunity.
Hi Jessica ~
I am so glad you saw this, I could not for the life of me remember who wrote the story and was unable to go back and look at the time. If you check it out please do report back to us. I had also thought of a breeder who has shared with me that someone stole their stud because if I understand it the key in this tool is prevention. You know immediately if your dog is not where they are supposed to be. I had not gotten to looking more closely yet, but am reminded I need to make time tonite.
Four years ago, our dogs broke out of the garage on the fourth of July while we were at the fireworks show. Some neighbors set off fireworks of their own and frightened the dogs. Hondo was a puppy but the two dogs went down our hill, across Hwy 101 and down a creekbed. When we found they were missing, I looked everywhere imaginable and finally went home in the early morning, hoping that they may come home or be found by someone. The next day a boy called and the dogs had come to him because they were hungry. Hondo had lost his collar but Bruno still had his on. They were very dirty from the creekbed, any very tired, but we had them back. When we got Groucho Too, he was already chipped the breeder and we got Hondo chipped also. It is so easy for a dog to lose his collar and everyone knows about chips now. It is just a little bit of insurance that you can get your dog back if they ever get lost or stolen.
