Well the lump in her neck is all gone , fully healed. For those that missed out Abby had a golf ball/childs fist-sized submandibular abscess that was very worrisome, it burst, drained, healed perfectly.

.....BUT NOW.......she is as bald as a baby's butt there. She lost the hair in big clumps like a chemo patient and there is a completely bare patch of pale skin there the size of a childs fist.

will it grow back ??? Or will she be bald there forever? Do I have to put sunscreen on it? lol

Suncreen - I would! I would think it would be like us giong to the beach for the first time and exposed our winter skin without protection. I found a doggy sunscreen that I put on Samantha's snout (sp??) when we go to te beach.
I would check with my Vet and see what they recommend, not to cause any more problems or possible infections in that area before applying something...just to be safe....
I would also check with the vet, but glad the lump is gone!
That's great news! I agree with the others about checking with your vet.
So Glad to hear lump is gone !! But I would check with the vet I agree with the others
Don't know about applying sunscreen to raw flesh, but I have a similair story and an answer to baldspots.

Sometime in April, I posted a frantic question about an imbedded tick that becaome infected and abscessed. It all went similair to Abbey's story.

If I spent an hour and dug threw Spud's scalp I might be able to find the original hole. Sooooo MUCH HAIR !!!!

These doodles have so much hair in a month you won't be able to notice anything.
So glad the lump is gone and healing. I would ask the vet about the hair-loss and find out when it is safe to apply sunscreen. (Yea Abby!)
I think the hair will grow back, or at least the hair around that spot will cover it. I'm just glad that lump is gone, surgery wasn't needed, and Abby is fine. That was a scary few days!
I don't know about sunscreen, I think I'd ask the vet first, too.
Doggles has a sunscreen. But I would be leary of putting just any old sunscreen on a dog as some chemicals in sunscreen can be toxic to them.
I have seen sunscreen at PetSmart.

Glad to hear the lump is gone.
Glad that lump is gone!
