Last year our dog park committee convinced a local city to let us host a Pooch Pool Party to help raise funds for our dog park. They agreed and it was a BLAST. Over the course of 4 hours nearly 200 dogs came and went. My dogs were there from about 10am to 5pm and could barely walk by the end of the day.

Yes the water was a little green...city didn't really read our email about keeping the chlorine going ..

Trying to consider being brave

If you have nice pools in your area...talk to the parks & recs dept or whoever is in charge of the pool. The parties happen after the pools are closed to humans and before the pool is drained and clean.

Sadly citizens of the city we held ours in...well...not knowing the above they complained and the city, not knowing good responses, caved and no more pool parties for us. *Sigh* If they'd only been smart about it they could have fielded the concerns quite effectively and even made money in later years. Ah well.

Wow, that looks fun !

This was last year with Buddy, we didn't have Kona yet. We will all go this year.
This pool uses the last day of the swim season before closing as Dog Daze :)

It was the first time Buddy realized how much fun it is to get wet! I have a silly video of him too, I'll post it to our page. Now I can't keep him out of a puddle!
That is really too bad Adina that they are not allowing the swim parties anymore!
What do those people have to complain about, it was the last day before closing the pool???? Hope they change their minds in the future, it really is so neat to see all the dogs get along so well and have so much fun.
Our pool party was actually 1-2 weeks AFTER the closing of the pool!
Some of the complaints as best as I can remember had to do with citizens not realizing that the pool party was after the pool was closed freaking out that their kids would have to swim after dogs had been there. There was such a simple, non offensive answer to that complaint.

The city also felt that since the money wasn't going to them (our dog park is actually out of the state we had the party in, but the two cities are within 10 minutes of each other) it was a waste of their staff time. Which was silly because their staff barely did anything but open the gates for us--they weren't even present for the duration of the party! You saw how dirty the pool was! I think it was a lot of political stuff. The original person who approved the party was retiring before the the pool party so it was out of her hands. And apparently the city never got board approval so that upset the board. It was all pretty silly in my opinion.
Wow thanks for posting about your Doodlepoolooza! I searched the nearby cities websites and found one scheduled for September 27 and only about 10 miles away. Even though we have a pool, I can't think of anything my doodles would love better than to combine the swim/dog park experience.

So check your websites fellow doodle lovers, you may luck out too!
Oh how exciting! I wish so much we could do it again!
Jersey and I are planning to go to one in Lumberton, NJ Sept 6 with her doodle friend, Riley. Thanks for sharing all the pics, I will be taking pics when we go too.
Looks like the dogs had a blast! Can't wait to go.
