My dog hates Kongs--they bore the snore out of him. Too much work. Nylabones, tennis balls, and other puppy favorites are totally snubbed. I think we have a dumpster diver, garbage recycler as our puppy. The noisier the garbage the better the toy it makes. Shredded cardboard boxes have happily taken over our living room. Empty toilet paper roles and paper bags. The other day he crawled into the pots and pans cupboard and bang around for 10 minutes. Oh and BTW--YES I have spent LOTS and LOTS of money and stuff I think is cute and looks like fun. He prefers garbage. Milk cartons stuffed with training treats are now the new Kong and his favorite toy. Keeps him busy for hours. Makes lots of noise and hours of fun. Please add some of your puppies alternative toys. It might make for some good laughs.
Oh! The best toy dog ever is a 2 liter soda bottle! To make it even more fun, put a little bell in it. It will be his new favorite and it will last for quite a while. Ewww, yes, mine love the undies too! His favorite paper product is Kleenex with lotion.
Definitely an empty water bottle or soda bottle with some treats inside--Macey will work to get the cap off the bottle in order to get the treats. She loves it!
An empty half gallon plastic arizona tea bottle. Buddy uses it like a soccer ball. It is loud, clunky, good to chew on and fun with or without treats. Also deconstructed a baby's floor/tummy mat and hold the long "hangar straps" above his head to play (no rough jumping). Loves toys that dangle from it and then will tote around the long "poles like he has rescued the largest stick imaginable.
Angel has gotten a hold of an empty flower pot in the yard and loves it. She does not destroy it. Rolls it around like a soccer ball, but mostly likes to put it on her head, fling it off, then chase it. Way funny!! Why do I spend so much money on dog toys???
A Pot Head? Just Joking. I bet she looks better in it than some of the flowers Why do we spend so much money on toys??? Spuds new toy--the plastic clothes hanger. He steals them out of the closets. He loves them.
So far kleenex boxes, toilet paper rolls, plastic spoons & straws, and empty soda bottles are all popular 'recycled' items around here. Anything he finds is sooo much better than anything I give him!
