Very well could be! Looks like a few lanky labby labradoodles I've seen.
Looks like my Samantha with shorter hair. Did she have her hair cut??
He does have a hair cut- hair is on the coarse/wirey side.
I have seen a lot of F1's that look like this. The face, tail, ears & body structure sure look like a doodle's. They just got a lot more "lab" than poodle. I doubt very much that the coat has been cut, or that it will get much more doodle-y.
He appears to have a good trimming somewhere in his past- his paws looked well trimmed and certain other areas as well. His coat is kind of on the wild side- the hair is on the coarse side/wirey and wants to curl in all different directions.
Jack never gets a haircut ever, and his paws look well-trimmed, lol. Doodles with shedding coats, especially those whose coats are wirey or coarse, don't need haircuts. Unlike poodles and many doodles, whose hair keeps growing and mats (like Sophie), dogs that shed (like most retrievers, spaniels, and German Shepherds) have hair that only gets to a certain length and stops. I can't be certain, but I would bet money that if he is an adult, this dog's coat will never look any different than this, other than maybe getting a bit thicker & shinier with some good nutrition.
He is about a year old! I am sure your right.. He didn't seem to shed too much, but his coat was rather short.
I think it could definitely be a doodle. Look at my profile Benny looks very similar only in black.
Here are some examples of "flat coated" F1s from a breeder's website, with descriptions:

This coat type is short and flat, with little or no wave to it, will vary in thickness. There is some feathering or wispy hairs on the legs, tail, around the ears, eyes and chin. This is a good coat type for those who like the look of the lab, but want something a little bit different. This hair coat will shed the most of all the different coat types. Care for this coat type is easy, wash and some brushing. Of all they coat types this one will shed the most.

This coat type is long and can be either straight or have some wave to it. The coat will also vary in thickness and can have long or short waves along the backline with wispy hairs around the eyes, ears, and on legs and tails. This coat type will shed, but not as much. Care for this coat is easy, wash and some brushing. The degree of shedding will vary with this coat type.
I started a thread about this boy who will likely be up for adoption soon!
