Photogenic Genius or Photgraphic Goof?
This past Friday we had to re-schedule our family pictures because the weather was nice and my husband had to bale & chop hay, pick up big bales, etc., yada yada yada before it rained (today), which it did, and still is. Anyway, we rescheduled the photo shoot for NEXT Saturday, sounds fine right? Well, our puppy comes home on FRIDAY... I can't bear to leave our newbie cutie alone on her second day, so naturally I thought, let's include the pup in the picture? The photographers are award winning and nationally aclaimed, and the shoot will be indoors in the studio, in a private room with a door. I've worked with this group since I had my senior portraits done, many moons ago... What does everyone think? Include the new pup, leave her crated, or get Grandma to babysit?
Second issue: If we include the new pup, shouldn't we then also include our existing dogs? (They are BIG) We have two adult Labs, our 6 year old black lab is HUGE, and our 2 year old yellow/white phantom boy is well, not very well trained.
All of a sudden I have a prospect of a photo shoot with:
1) Two adults
2) Four daughters (10, 5, 3, 13 months)
3) Three dogs!
So, I want to include the puppy, and not the big boys, does that make me mean or just practical? I would have to REALLY bathe/shampoo/de-shed/groom, de-stinkify my labs the same day as bringing a new puppy home, all the while, everyone has urged me NOT to introduce the pup to the boys too soon.... Oh boy, Any suggestions?

I agree, leave little Sable with Granma. I think the Christmas card photo with the whole gang is a great idea. We have some friends who include their daughters "zoo" in their Christmas card photo which usualy consists of a dog, several cats, several geckos (yes geckos!!) and maybe a hamster!! I know pity the photographer but we love the cards:-)
