Ok, my son left for College (4th year) Friday. Took my baby girl down yesterday (1st year college) yesterday. Cried for an hour. Still have tears, if it wasn't for my little Doodle to comfort me I'd be lost. She definitely knows something is up and snuggling even more than usual. Very perceptive, aren't they?
The first couple of weeks in the empty nest are the worst. Not only was I lonely when my girls went off to college but I also worried about how they would do "without me". They were fine and had the time of their lives. All that worrying for nothing...but I guess that's what we do. It's great that you have your doodle to make the transition easier. I'm sure Mango will be more spoiled than ever...nothing wrong with that.
the last one is always the worst. My youngest will be a sophomore in college. He was gone 10 weeks working this summer, and we only have him home till next Saturday.
Everyday will be easier - especially when the food, water and electric bills come in! LOL
Seriously, I know just how hard it is - I am not making light of it, you just have to keep busy. A good time to take up a new hobby - maybe another doodle????
Karen Leaves on Sunday to go back to River Falls, WI I will miss her It really hit me last Sunday when I was making breakfast my chest just swelled up with emotions. She will be a Junior, Wilson will miss her a great deal also, and He knows something will be happening especially when he sees the boxes. Doodles are smart, when we left to go to MOA (mall of america) he looked at our luggage and got sad, I am so glad to have Wilson, for when I get back home on Sunday night I will be able to hug him, WE have a web cam so I see Karen through that and Wilson loves it too for he sees Karen, his buddy.
Don't you just love Skype and the web cam? Our oldest daugther has been going to school in Ireland since 2005 (this time next year she should be done with her PhD). We talk to her every Sunday via Skype. It is wonderful; we chat for an hour or more. Since it is computer to computer it is absolutely free. The dog that looks to Elizbeth can recognize her voice. Every Sunday when he hears her he jumps on the bed in my office, 'looks' at Elizabeth and wags his tail like crazy.
I know how you feel. We have 3 adult children and when the last one was off to college our house and heart felt so empty. My lab was such a comfort at that time. We lost him a year ago and now have a doodle named Riley. Hang in there it takes time.

Mango is absolutely spoiled, but she makes me laugh so hard all the time. Ok, my daughter taught me last nigh to use our web-cam and of course she wanted to see her dog. So I held Mango up in front of the camera and wouldn't you know, she kept looking forward as if she knew what was going on. I know she heard my daughters voice, I'm sure she probably didn't actually see her on the screen, but my daughter got a kick out of seeing her and Mango got a treat for her good behavior. It was fun, and now I know how to use the i-chat mode on my computer and can see my little girl more often. Wish my son had one!
