Dog Run/Fenced area vs. Invisible Fence?

Hi Everyone,
Since we have been training our pup we have been taking him out on a leash each time to make or play. We are trying to decide what would be the most effective long term option for him to go outside....

Wondering if you could share your thoughts/experiences with building a doggie run/fenced area vs. invisible fencing? If we do a dog run...would you do a privacy fence or a chain fence that he could see out of?

Family is FANTASTIC!!
Mine and DH's helped put them through camp (way back in the day) when we couldn't! Seems they always know when we need a hand.
Let me know when it's done - the girls and I will be on way for a doodle date!

Probably everyone by now knows my opinion. I have an invisable fence for Lucy and I love it. I really like it's portability as we have a camp and a motorhome and I take it with me and know she will be contained wherever we go. Yes, I know some dogs will go through it, do they have it turned the whole way up, I don't know. All I have to do now is have Lucy's on #1 - 3 and she respects it totally. Yes, and she did go through it once to "chase the geese", but that was my DH's fault as he opened the door and told her to "go get the geese" (without her collar on), and guess what, she did !!! Bottom line, what is best is what is best for your situation to keep your doodle safe.

We have two doodles and have the invisible fence and absolutely love it. They are large doodles and we just love watching them run around the yard like horses. The invisible fence that we have gives them a 1/2 acre circle. They must be taught not to go out of the cirlce, they say that it normally takes two weeks for this training but because doodles are so intellegent it only took my dogs one day (can you tell that I am partial to doodles? LOL). I considered a chain fence but the cost would have been too much for a large area and then thought if one of the kids or grandkids left the gate open the dogs could leave our property and get hit by a car.

as you can see in the picture, even with a deer in the next yard (and we have plenty of deer roaming through the area) Bailey stays in the yard. There are many time where we forget to put the collar on and due to her training, she still recalls the bounderies and stays in the yard.
