My Bear is supposed to be a mini, but he is already 20 lbs at 16 weeks. Was anyone else's dog this big at 16 weeks? His mom was 35 lbs and dad was 18 lbs, I think, so I am a bit surprised to see him growing so fast. We love, love, love, him but was just wondering if anyone else had a dog that was this size at this age or if you had a guestimate about what you think his weight might end up as?

Max was 10 lbs when we got him at 8 weeks and 20 lbs at 16 weeks and now at 1 year and 2 months is about 30-35 lbs. His mom is a mini at 22 lbs and dad a medium at 40 lbs so I guess Max is a mini/medium. After 16 weeks his weight really slowed and I doubt he'll get any bigger. The rule is to take the weight at 16 wks, then double it and add 5-10 lbs but that's not always the case or Max would be 45-50 lbs which he is not. Hope this helps.
I'm a little worried myself. Sadie just weighed this thurs, almost 20 weeks, weight 22.8 lbs! At 16 weeks was 16.4lbs. She was supposed to be a "mini". Mom 45lbs Dad 24lbs. I keep wondering what she'll be. Getting tough to handle even with puppy kindergarten (which she passed).
Isn't it so funny how much their weight can vary? It is almost like a mystery until they quit growing. I am so glad to hear that others have had the same growing rate as Bear!
Cooper is a mini/medium 19" and 48lbs, he is a solid guy and stop growing at 1yr. and 4 months.
I also can't wait to see Chewie's final weight. He is currently 18 weeks, but at 16 weeks weighed 17 lbs. His mother is a F1 goldendoodle 25 lbs and his father is a miniture poodle 20 lbs. The six puppies from their previous liter grew to be between 25 and 35 lbs with one of them reaching 40 lbs. Everyone who sees Chewie thinks he weighs so much more but he's all fur. When he's wet, we watch him shrink and as he dries, we watch him grow...so funny.
I love seeing their TRUE size when their wet. Mine always acts like mr. big pants until he has to take a bath and then we realize his puppy size. He really is getting so heavy we can barely carry him now. He may get up to 40 lbs! My husband trained Bear to sit in his recliner with him, but may regret that if Bear turns out to be 40 lbs instead of the 25-30 lbs we were expecting! LOL Still will be a baby in a big ole body!
Cherri...don't worry! Bear will slow down soon! Peri is 23 (I think) weeks old and I will report back with her weight soon. Going to vet to pick her up (spayed today). But, at 16 weeks, she was 14 pounds, at 20, she was about 20 (used home scale, so you never know). I think she is only 21 or 22 now. They really do slow down. No worries!
So I was way off on Peri's weight....home scale said 20 a few weeks ago. She was spayed and weighed Friday at the vet....she is only 16 pounds! She will be 6 months next week! So I think she is going to be a little girl. Vet thinks 21 or 22 pounds max.
