Transition to new food question...

Chewie definitely seems to have lost interest in his Wellness Puppy. After (more) research and trying to decide between all the "better" foods, I decided on Fromm's Chick a la Veg. No particular reason...seems to be six of one, half dozen of the other. Pick a good one, hope he likes it and it agrees with him.

My question is the feeding chart on the Fromm's bag recommends a smaller daily amount than the Wellness. So, if I want to transition him slowly, replacing 1/4 of Wellness with 1/4 Fromm's might be too much. I'm thinking mixing 1/4 of what Fromm's recommends with 3/4 of what Wellness recommends. Then do the same at 50/50, etc.

I know...I'm a little OCD...LOL. Just keeping my fingers crossed it goes well as I don't want to be trying new foods every month.

Thanks! I want to take it slow, so will give the proportions my best guesstimate. I debated between the Chicken and the Salmon, but figured I'd start with "my idea" of basic (chicken). It is very small (smaller than Wellness), so definitely puppy size.

Most of us here have a touch of OCD, or we wouldn't have this group in the first place, lol!
I don't think it will make that much difference if you don't get the proportions exactly right. Fingers and paws crossed for Chewie to have an easy transition!

I am transitioning from TOTW to Fromm (salmon). This is hard to do because my dood prefers the Fromm (it is new of course and I know she likes salmon) and my chihuahua will spit out the TOTW. He won't even eat the TOTW and barks at Peri to move away from the remaining Fromm (if he finished his Fromm portion already). I am not having much luck transitioning! Hope their tummies aren't too upset, but oh well! Good luck - you will just have to roll with it and see how Chewie does!

We are transitioning from TOTW to Fromm to just because my puppies are losing interest and I wanted to give them a change. They are picking out all of the Fromm too! They seem to be adjusting really well though! They really like the change. They loved the TOTW, but toward the end of the bag, not too enthused. Probably because it was not as fresh. Good luck with the change! We are doing Chicken a la Veg too!

Cherri you should buy one of those containers that preserves the food! I have one that fits my 15# bags of food perfectly. It seals the food so it is air-tight and it stays much fresher. They are at Petsmart for $20 or so...

Wow, what a coincidence that a number of us are transitioning to Fromm's at the same time. Chewie actually ate great this morning and didn't try to pick out the Wellness kibble. I second the idea of the pet food container...I have one that fits just below the bottom shelf of my pantry...perfect!

Not yet...heard it was great, but I wanted to try Salmon first since it has slightly lower protein and my chihuahua has had some kidney issues. Probably no relation to the food anyway, but oh well! They love the salmon so far.
