Summit Holistic Australian Lamb?

I bought this because the ingredients looked really good. Then I got home and looked it up and it was only 3 star.So I have been mixing it 50/50 with TOTW High Prairie (Bison/Venison) . I figured both foods together would make a great variety of ingredients.

It's very low in protein, only 21%. That's the only thing I can see wrong with it, there are no harmful ingredients. (There is a lot of salt in it.) But I would be concerned about the protein being so low, as it's the primary nutrient that dogs need to sustain all their body functions. The fat level is actually a little low, too. Mixed with TOTW it should be fine.

I was reading up on rotation diet too. What do you think of it for an animal with no known diet sensitivities?. This is the theory of changing up the food vs the old reccommended keeping the dog on the same food always. I probably shouldnt be changing too often but I wanted to try other things that worked beyond the Orijen that I always gave them before. I know they LOVED Go Natural Grain Free, but they were getting porky on it LOL. I myself love the Orijen (well not physically - I never tasted it - lol) but the dogs grew uninterested in it so I figured I would try things then go back reintroducing it as a new novelty again.

Oh, you should definitely change their food on a regular basis. Even some of the vets are now catching on to the fact that it helps keep them from developing food allergies to change their diets regular from a young age. Lots of people change their kibble every bag, or every other bag at the least. Lots of the brands are designed to rotate among the flavors, but if your dog has no digestive issues, you can switch between brands, too. With Kaela, I would take it slower with the food changes until her digestive systam is more mature, but Abby shouldn't have any problems with it.

You know it is so interesting the change in philosophies. With Bailey (now almost 13) we were told to stick with a food. Not change it (I always thought "how boring - poor thing") Poor guy not only did he get the same food but it was crap food ( Beneful and Pedigree etc... but that was in the day it was thought to be optimum like advertised on the bag, and Eukanuba was like the best money could buy LOL) We were told never to give scraps of human food because they get digestive dosorders and diarrhea from it. No fruits or vegetables.
My dogs now love to snack on carrots and apples . (they had Thanksgiving dinner (well leftovers from the plates). and we switch up food. I like it better these days!! LOL -
