I think Miley has a wart caused by this virus which means Motta will probably get them too. Has anyone used any home remedity's to get rid of them?

I found this on another site but wanted opinions...

You can also give her some L-Lysine...this is available in pill form at GNC. I give this twice a day to ALL the dogs when one has it...it takes weeks off the process. 500MG's per day for my dogs which are Beagles ranging from 13-22lbs

Miley weighs about 55 lbs now so I don't know if it would work. We have a vet appt tomorrow but since I have figured out it will go away on it's own.. I might call them and see if they still want to see her or not. I am just looking for something to speed up the process of getting rid of it.
Thanks!

Viral Pappiloma is very Common in Green Wing Macaws. It is a virus similar to Herpes and not curable. You can just control the symptoms.

If your dogs are not spayed/neutered, now is the time. Viral Pappiloma can be passed down to offspring and cause blindness in any issue.
Here's a bit of background info-The infection is transmitted via direct contact with the papillomas on an infected dog or with the virus in the pet’s environment. The incubation period is 1-2 months. This virus can only be spread among dogs. It is not contagious to other pets or to humans. To become infected, the dog generally needs an immature immune system, thus this infection is primarily one of young dogs and puppies

The canine papillomavirus has been shown to be able to survive at least 2 months at temperatures of 40º F but only 6 hours at 98º F.

So biggest thing is, if your other dogs are going to transmit this..you wouldn't know for quite awhile..as it has a long incubation time.. talk to the vet..see what they recommend you do.

Gracie had these last year. I got all worked up and worried. The vet cauterized and removed them. It was over.
I also, used the L Lysine to pump up her immune system. And yes, both dogs will probably get them. If they don't cause any problems they will go away on their own in 6 months or so. Gracie had one that was real big hanging off her lip. I was afraid it would get torn off or something in dog play. They are contagious. Do you go to daycare or anything?
We just found out that our dog has this virus. I am trying to get more information about it. Did your dog have any more growths? Did your other dog contact them too? Did you try to keep Miley away from other dogs and if so, for how long?
I only kept the pups away from other puppies which was easy for us. I take them to work but they are the only dogs there except the pup who gave it to them :) We walk with 2 other grown dogs and I talked to their owner before continuing them but she didn't think they would get them....and they didn't.

Motta did get them from Miley and his just fell off 2 weeks ago. He had one on his tongue and all over his gums on the inside. He had about 8 that I counted. lol... They never bothered them.
Thanks for the information. My vet told me to check her eyes, mouth, feet and other areas daily to see if other growths form. I'm glad to hear that they didn't cause any discomfort.
