whistle training for distance recall

Does anyone use a whistle to recall their dog in the field or really far away? I bought one today and am getting my dogs used to it. Every time I blow the whistle, they both stop what they are doing and run to me. I give them a small piece of chicken each time and they seem to like this game. I never have a problem getting Noah to come to me, but I wonder if blowing a whistle will be easier than having to shout his name from yards away.

I use a whistle a lot, it was very easy to train them using treats. Gus and Molly are often in the woods and out of earshot. I got tired of getting hoarse from yelling their names.

I do, but its a manual whistle, me. Works like a charm.

I often do the same but the results are not always so good. But that's only because obedience is a work in progress/
