Brewster is such a crazy dog. He likes to go in the backyard, but if I'm the one to let him out, he wants me to come out with him every time, or he'll just turn around and want back in. If my husband lets him out (when I'm at work, etc.) he'll go outside happily and stay out for up to an hour. Ok, so he's attached to me! LOL The funny part is, that if I leave the door open enough for him to come and go, he will just come and go and not insist I go out with him. Not very workable in the winter (too cold) OR the summer (too buggy).
I think I might get one of those doggy doors for sliding glass doors. They are pricy for the XL tall size (which he'd need). Does anyone have this product? Is it worth the $200-$300 cost? Does your dood use/love it? Looking for experiences! Thanks!
We have had a doggie door in our sliding glass door for over 15 years. This is the very exact same one we have always had. It was for our big Labrador Retriever and when you looked at him you never would have believed he could go through. Ours is or was, the largest they make. He could run right through it without a pause to his step. Then when he passed away, we just left the door in for four years. We got Gracie Doodle and she now uses it. She is even taller than Rodney was. She doesn't have a problem going through it at all. She also likes to take toys and lovies in and out the door. The funniest is when it is really cold and rainy. She will just stick her head out, look around and then pull it back inside. Just checking things out I guess!!! lol Hey Nancy...they have replacement flaps at PetCo!!! I have replaced ours quite a few times over the years. We also have a metal shield that comes with it that you can slide down over the flap to close it off.
