About Me:
I live in Cambridge Ontario with my husband and 3 children. Owner of a 4yr old Female Goldendoodle who delivered her 1st litter (and likely her last) in May 2009 of FB1 doodles - 5 males and 2 females.
What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
Sophie - mom - Birthday Aug 4, 2005
Guinness - Born May 3rd/09
Where did you get your doodle(s)?
Breeder
Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
Liked what I read about the breed. Previous Bichon Frise owner - lost her and couldn't live without a dog in the house. Decided to get a dog that was a little larger, good walker. Low shedding.
What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?
Take for walk, play out in yard.Throwing Jake the Mallard and watching the dogs run around with it in the yard.
Does your doodle(s) shed?
A little bit but nothing major
Who grooms your doodle(s)?
Vivian at Trubecca Grooming - she is excellent.
Relationship Status:
Married

Seizure

Posted on October 14, 2009 at 5:00pm 10 Comments

Tonight, I witnessed a very scary situation. My 4 yr old healthy goldendoodle Sophie had a Grand Mal seizure - it lasted for 5 minutes with a 10 minute calm period afterwards. I got her to our vets and she had bloodwork done - results to come tomorrow morning. I was asked by our vet if Sophie had eaten anything out of the ordinary and there was nothing that really stuck out in my mind, except that we have a grapevine on our back fence and she and our other doodle Guinness are always pulling… Continue

Can I decrease his barking in a week?

Posted on August 22, 2009 at 5:00pm 5 Comments

Just some background info. I have a 4yr old doodle and 2 of her pups, both 15wks old, one of which I am keeping and the other has finally found his forever home and will be leaving Sept 1st. I have to get control of the barking before Henry, the 15wk old puppy, leaves my home and goes to his forever home next week. Henry is a barker, barks at people walking by the fence, barks at the neighbour walking out of his house, and last week, barked like a mad man at the little dog at the vets. It has… Continue

Will mom and dad cope?

Posted on August 4, 2009 at 1:08pm 20 Comments

Well, we had a litter of 7 goldendoodle pups with the intention of keeping one. We had the other 6 pups sold and then someone wanted to return their puppy as their vet told them he would be a lot bigger than I had advised. This was fine - I don't think they really were prepared. Now, as I am unable to find a new home for this doodle who is now 12wks old - my mom and dad have offered to take him - but I don't know if they will cope as they haven't had a dog before.

BTW did you decide to give a puppy to your mom and dad? I sent a comment that blog. I hope you did give them the puppy.

Hey Deb, I am getting a doodle from the litter I blogged about. I am glad you commented because until you sent your note I still had not figured out what someone else was talking about. If you look at my blog look at the person who wrote right before you did. She called me a grandma. I kept wondering "why did she say that?". I really was kind of offended. I finially figured it out after you sent your note SO thanks. I am just so excited about my doodle that I had to share the GREAT news!!

There are quite a few in Stratford. I have only met a couple but I know there are more than a few you hear about. Make sure your parents put a night light out everywhere they go at night. With black dogs it is so easy to trip over them when you have to get up in the night. Also teach them how to stop the biting mouthing as older skin is more fragile. So far that is the only suggestions other than excercise excercise excercise minds and bodies.
