About Me:
Greetings! I am a shrink in Colorado. i work mostly with PTSD/Depression w/women (not an add-just a statement of what I do). I have a lot of health issues (Lupus, RA, Fibro, had Stroke, DVT's, if it's auto immune, I've got it). So I can only work part time. My 21 yo daughter has Lupus also and is fully disabled (and she wanted to go to Princeton-so that really is the pits-and mom feels super guilty!). As a shrink I have a fairly twisted sense of humor! I've lived in CO since 2000 but home will always be Washington DC.
What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
A SHEEPADOODLE! Her name is Bella and as of Dec 2016 she is 5 1/2 months old. She is bright, kind, gentle (after we got over the fact that she thought we were all human nylabones!). I have 2 cats that she can't understand why they won't play. They can't understand why she's always chasing them!
Before Bella for 13 yrs I had a Standard Poodle. I trained her to be a therapy dog to work with my patients. She was incredible. She passed Feb 2016. Bella dropped in my lap in Oct 2016. I wasn't going to even consider training for therapy dog for a year but my daughter took her with her to see her shrink. She knew instinctively what to do at shy of 6 months. SO I've started her with limited patients. I wouldn't believe it but she gets it. I'm stunned -at 6 months! So...that's my doodle delight story! Looking forward to friendships, advice from the more experienced doodlers.
Where did you get your doodle(s)?
Breeder
Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
I saw one on a weird Netflix show, then met one at Chuck and Dons (a high end pet food store in CO). The puppy's mom got her from a breeder nearby. When I met her, it was love at first sight. I think it's better to get a mixed dog-but I needed a specific temperament for a therapy dog. I knew Standards were brilliant so I read up about OES. And it seemed like a great mix. Also they don't shed which helps with allergic patients. She goes everywhere with me.
What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?
We walk (when I'm able- or my daughter takes her to park w/the doodle group in the 'hood). We are training her to work with people so she goes anywhere we go- loves Target, the car. I love just cuddling with her-wondering how big she will get and how much it will be to groom her!LOL
Does your doodle(s) shed?
Nope!
Who grooms your doodle(s)?
I have a new groomer. My old groomer is too far away.
Favorite Doodle Products?
I assume you mean HER favorite products? She likes anything she can chew on - some cuddle toys also.

I see you found the raw food eating doodles group. There's also a naturally living doodles group. I am not rich but I feed all 3 of my doodles exclusively raw. 2 of them are minis ( by no means the smallest dogs) and weigh 24 and 22 lbs respectively. My third is a medium and weighs 42 lbs. Other than commercial raw food I also feed them grocery store meat, bones and organs. You can add some veggies and fruit, eggs and yogurt.

Hi Karen, there is a raw feeders group here on DK:

http://www.doodlekisses.com/group/rawfood?groupUrl=rawfood&id=2065244%3AGroup%3A1183242&page=16

It is not very active.

Keep in mind that the point of the movie Pet Fooled was not so much that the food be raw, but that it have adequate moisture content. They mentioned canned foods as well as dehydrated raw commercial products, and also mentioned adding some wet foods if you are feeding a dry diet.. Commercial raw products are perfectly acceptable, and will save you a lot of time and hassles, not to mention the "ick" factor of having to handle raw meats, including raw organ meats, that the very extreme raw feeders insist upon. You also have the assurance with the commercial raw products that your dog is getting everything We do have a list of raw commercial foods on our recommended list in the Food Group, and many of us use them, although they are only affordable as the main diet for the smallest doodles. To give you an idea, the cost of feeding my 70 lb doodle raw frozen patties exclusively would be about $600/month.

Here's the raw section from our recommnded brands list. You can investigate pricing, etc:

Where is Bella from?  She may be a sibling of MonaChica.

I see you are new to DoodleKisses - the best website out there for doodle lovers everywhere.  You might like to join the group for sheepadoodles.  It is rather new.  Welcome to DK and I will enjoy watching Bella as she grows up on DK.  We can compare experiences.

I also have a sheepadoodle and have had many doodles and poodles in the past.  She is now seven months old and can be a challenge.  We are moving to Oregon and I want to get her into search and rescue after we get settled in Oregon (if it is not too late).  She is a darling girl and our first female after many males.  I got her from a great breeder in Washington State.
