You are all blessed and very lucky. In what I was reading, it sounded similar in that pigs with circovirus ( never seen in dogs until now) have red blotches. AKA, Petechiae.
I dont know if the dogs in Ohio have these blotches as the news is vague right now but it was in other animals.
Just a coincidence? Maybe. But i thought you may still be looking for answers

Hi Bob,
Have been thinking of you and wondering how you doodle is doing now after all the earlier incidences.
Recently in the State of Ohio, numerous reports of dogs coming down with strange illness have been reported. I dont know if you saw my posts (2) about what they may think is a tick illness but also contagious. The CDC, State Agriculture, and Veterinarians are studying the dogs.
All of this is new. Many of the dogs recover after treatment, but some have died in the early days. They think it is a new virus not found in dogs until now. In other animals, strange red marks appear all over their bodies.
So glad your dog recovered with whatever your doodle had and is now safe. Just thought you and your vet may find the recent news in Ohio interesting and may be able to contribute some to this on-going and immediate investigation.
Bob; I have heard fabulous things about Cares. Someone I work with's wife is an anesthesiologist who contracts to local animal hospitals. She raves about the medical care at this place. Just wanted to share that with you. Sophie is gorgeous. Where do you get her groomed? Marcey
Bob ~ any update on Sophie. It is probably too early to see much response from meds. I hope and pray you little Sophie is feeling better.
Bob, I love your comment about having Sophie lay on the towel when she gets out of the shower or comes in from the rain. I'm going to start doing this with Traz. Yes, the mini horse size dog can be a handful and pack a lot of water. Thank you for your post :-)
Bob,
Just saw your old post about unscented dog shampoos. My dog HATES the scent and reall so do I.
Many have used Green Baby Shampoo. I have not but it is worth a try
Sorry didn't get back til now. We took 3 classes with Susie...all great! STAR Puppy, "Leash, Greetings, Come" and then the Canine Good Citizen course and test. We had a pretty good mix of sizes in the puppy class...but by the time we got to the CGC there were a lot of different ages and Finn's doodle energy level and play style was too much for some of the dogs. His BFF turned out to be a Portuguese Water Dog and they would entertain everyone after class dancing on their hind feet, wrestling and taking turns chasing each other. We also trained a lot together. Finn is easy to live with and he'll make you laugh, but he can be a bit stubborn, so training him was a challenge at times. He's still a work in progress
