Chronic renal failure

Hi I'm new here. I have a new bernedoodle, he is 5 months old and was just diagnose with chronic renal failure. I'm devastated! Any advices? Life experience to share ?

Most likely, your puppy has a genetic condition called Juvenile Renal Disease or JRD, which runs in Standard Poodles. Here is some information: http://www.vetprof.com/clientinfo/poodlerenal.html

Unfortunately, there is also a familial form of renal disease that runs in Bernese Mtn Dogs. So this may have been a double whammy. But I would pursue compensation from the breeder.

You should probably contact your breeder to let them know what is happening. Usually the health guarantee that comes with your puppy covers some of the expenses. I am praying that he responds to treatment.
