I am Ex. Director of a no-skill shelter.I have 5 dogs and 2 cats. I recently owned a pet boutique for 4 years. I do agility shows when I am not working. I also work with guide and service dogs as a trainer and puppy raiser.
What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
I only have the one Labradoodle, Quincy, who is 3 years old. I have a 15 year old Aussie named Chloe, a retired guide dog I trained name Peggy Sue, 2 Shih-Tuzs - Bandit is 9, and Elly is 5yr. Peggy Sue, Bandit and Quincy are all therapy dogs. Quincy has been a member of Dog Actors Guild, and he has been considered for photo covers. He was in a national grooming contest 2 weeks ago, and now they would like to use him as a show model because his hair is so nice. I am afraid if he gets cut too much, he will not look like himself.
Where did you get your doodle(s)?
Breeder
Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
I was acutally looking for a dog to train as a "demo dog" for service work, and had been considering a standard poodle for something different. My business partner told me about 2 doodles that had come into the store, and maybe I should check them out. So I went on-line, found a breeder that was in NJ who had a doodle for adoption because he had a medical problem (which is ok now), but she could not sell or breed him. So that is how I got Quincy when he was 4 1/2 months old. Now that I have him, I cannot imagine not having more.
What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?
He is the goof-ball of the Dog park. Goes everyday and has about 5 friends he plays with all the time. He is also loved by the owners, and because he is such a babe magnet, we have loaned him out to guys who are friends that want to meet a sweet lady. He loves to travel, and he is very good about trying to swim too. He watches Animal Planet every day, and loves to tease the small dogs and cats. He thinks everyone is a play-toy.
Does your doodle(s) shed?
Nope!
Who grooms your doodle(s)?
I have a friend who is a groomer. I don't like to groom!
Favorite Doodle Products?
Kongs, toys that are fluffy and squeak, and anything food related. This dog has a hollow leg - he can eat and eat and never gain weight.

That is indeed a lot of animals to be in charge of! One quick tip, be sure to click on "Comment Back" when you respond to a comment your page. That will take your comment to the person's page where they will see it. The photo you have now in your profile is of my dog Thule I've been trying to photoshop some anonymous looking photos for new members who don't have a photo up...but it didn't get transferred to everyone so I will try to figure out how to get rid of it on your profile!
I will get a picture of Quincy, and if I can find one of me too, I will put that on the site. I am just really camera shy. I am looking forward to hearing from doddle lovers out there. I will also try and get something going in Georgia before the end of the month, but by job right now is so demanding that I have little time for other stuff. Just imagine being responsible for 150 animals every day!

Holly is also a "chick-magnet." Luckily; I have a wonderful wife who matches my personality perfectly and loves animals as much as I do.
However, when I was a young guy, a dog like Holly would have been a wonderful way to break the ice with ladies.
Everyone loves Holly but, ladies are especially interested in her; probably because she is so darned cute looking.
I meet any number of people when I am walking Holly but, ladies (of all ages) outnumber the guys 5 to 1. I have had several occasions in which ladies actually stopped their cars to ask "What kind of dog is that?"
Certainly; meeting members of the opposite sex is not a valid reason to select a dog. However, for a single guy who likes Doodles for their many other virtues; being "chick-magnets" is certainly an added attraction.
Welcome Gayle! I'm so glad you've joined us =) Wow...what a fun career you have. We're having an Invite Your Friends Contest (details under the photo slide show on the front page) so if you start a Georgia group and invite lots of people to join this month you could be eligible for some fun prizes! If you need help posting photos let me know.
