I am married to a WONDERFUL man who loves Kinnick, but would never admit it out loud! We have two young sons who keep us very busy. I taught elementary/middle school for 10 years but am now home with our boys.
What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
Kinnick is a goldendoodle and was born on March 15, 2008. Her mom was a 45 pound golden retriever and her dad was a 50 pound white standard poodle. She is our only pet, but we promised our older son a goldfish when he is completely potty trained. Needless to say, I hope we get a goldfish VERY soon!
Kinnick is the name of the football stadium for the University of Iowa. It is named after the very respectable Heisman Trophy winner Nile Kinnick. My husband is a huge fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, and when he agreed to get a dog, I agreed to name the dog Kinnick. I am a graduate and fan of Iowa's rivals, the Iowa State Cyclones.
Where did you get your doodle(s)?
Breeder
Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
First and foremost, we wanted a dog that would be excellent with children. We didn't have any kids when we got Kinnick, but knew we wanted to start a family. I am allergic to cats and some dogs, so we wanted to get a dog that was hypoallergenic. We also wanted a dog that would enjoy being outside. I did some research and asked around, and discovered goldendoodles!
What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?
We love to cuddle and play together! Her best friends are my two young sons. :-)
Does your doodle(s) shed?
A little bit but nothing major
Who grooms your doodle(s)?
Under One Woof
Relationship Status:
Married

I have called three hospitals in the area and none of them have any NICU comforter/rocker spots open righ now. Told me to check back in 6 months. Also, I went to our local humane society thinking I would volunteer. The next volunteer class starts in April. Geesh...you'd think people would want volunteers. Guess I just have to be patient. Wow - 6 weeks early. That must have been quite scary! At 7 months, is he the size now of a 5-1/2 month old?
Hi Kirsten! First of all, welcome to DK. Thanks so much for the friend request. Kinnick sure looks like a great baby sitter/protector! Make sure you get check out the groups, and if you are into photography, or would like to be, the Photography group (it is quite active and we all work on taking pictures of our Doodles and other things).
Oh yes, I had a friend from Sweden when I was working in San Francisco and her name was Kirsten. I always loved it, so I named my daughter Kirsten Laura when she was born. Beautiful name.
I taught many grades because I was teaching for over 25 years. I still sub about 30 days a year. My favorites were fifth and sixth grades and even 5/6 combos. It is nice to be retired and just to work when I want to. I do a lot of art projects while subbing and also do arts and crafts for the ladies at my mother's retirement community. Yep, life is good.
Thank you for the friend request. I LOVE your name. It was on our short list when our daughter was born so whenever I encounter someone with your name it brings back such fond memories.
This is a great place to share about doodles. There are many groups that you can join. For example, there are groups for grooming, nutrition, health/medical, types of doodles, puppy groups etc. Look at the top of your page and click on Groups - check them out. Enjoy! .

Thanks Kristen. They really are photogenic but unfortunately not for me :) Most of the pictures I posted are from a photographer in Northern VA.
Kinnick looks awesome and of course wonderful with kids. Aren't doodles great?
Thanks, Kristen. Kinnick looks like he has a silky coat- love that. Did you get a new pup also? (Remy?)

Glad to be friends on DoodleKisses. I love your name! My daughter's name was Kirsten, rather unusual these days. Usually it is Kristen.
