I realize that a mating between a golden retriever or Labrador retriever and a poodle will produce an F1 doodle, either Goldendoodle or Labradoodle.
The backcross F1B doodle is produced by mating an F1 doodle back to a poodle.
The second generation F2 doodle is the result of breeding an F1 doodle to an F1 doodle. These F2 doodles apparently have a 40% chance of inheriting the looks of the Lab or Golden; a 40% chance of inheriting the looks of the poodle and only a 20% chance of looking like the typical doodle.
I have just read an ad in my local newspaper for what the breeder calls, "Super-Doodles". These are described as the breeding of a Labradoodle to a Goldendoodle. I am very happy with my 6-month old beautiful Goldendoodle, Holly, and have no desire for anpother doodle of any type - especially not a breeding between a Labradoodle and a Goldendoodle.
However, I am curious as to what the expection is as to what these dogs will look like. I would satisfy my curiosity regarding their looks by going to see them but, that would probably not tell me a lot because, as these two pictures show, my Holly looked more like a golden retriever when she was a puppy and has only gradually evolved into having Doodle looks.
There are several breeders of these dogs (some on here I think)...but they are called "North American Retrievers" by the breeders who breed these. I see no problem with them -- a mix like any other...if you start with healthy parents you'll have a higher chance of healthy offspring. The offspring have been really great from what I've seen. Some are more retrieverish and some are indistinguishable from a LD or GD--lots of really great dogs out of this mix as well. I know Jane from Lincoln Manor makes them. I think Kristy at Shelby Doodles does too...but don't recall who the others are.
