About Me:: My husband and I are retired and live in a country setting outside of Houston, Texas.

What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!: Toby is a goldendoodle Born August 9, 2006. His mom was an F1B and his dad was an F-1. He weighs 60 pounds.
We got him between my chemo treatments and radiation (ugh!). He is a wonderful treat and keeps us young! We also have a 12 year old kitty as well. The cat has the dog pretty well trained now but he, the cat, lived under the bed for the first 6 months!

My husband never had a puppy, only a dog for a short time, so he got to name this one. My very dearest friend owns his sister, Gypsy Rose, so that is fun except they live about 4 1/2 hours away.

Where did you get your doodle(s)?: Breeder

Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?: Looks and personality - what more can I say!

What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?: Everyday is a party for Toby! What can we do but enjoy every minute with him? He loves our big backyard, walking with me and we enjoy meeting up with friends at bark parks.

Does your doodle(s) shed?: A little bit but nothing major

Who grooms your doodle(s)?: We take him to a groomer. It does not always turn out to our liking however

Favorite Doodle Products?: 1. Cyber Atom Rubber Ball Dog Toy
By JW Pet Company This ball has a small hole in it. We put small treats in it and give it to Toby, along with a stuffed Kong, when we leave for any length of time. He spends quite a bit of time getting all the treats out by the way it bounces.

2. Sniffers dog treats and Cheerios. These are small and we cut the Sniffers in half even. Our dog trainer said to use treats no larger than an m&m. That works well here - it's amazing what Toby will do for one Cheerio! I also cut Jerky (lamb and rice NOT chicken) into smaller pieces.

3. Triple Crown Large Dog Training Collar
This is also called the Good Dog Collar. We call it the "pay attention collar".
When we are in situations that Toby may become overly excited (he is SO social!) we use this collar. It's a VERY humane alternative to the prong collar. I expect as he matures we won't need it but still, for now, we use it as needed.

I got it when we were on vacation in Colorado/Wyoming and then got home to a new foster puppy! I hope you are having a good summer. You mentioned rain...we haven't had any since about the time you wrote! Sure could use some now, lol! I would love for us to make plans to get together this fall -- like maybe in October. I will most likely have my foster until the end of the month and then I have a few trips planned for September. I will deserve a break after having her!! Hugs to you and Toby! More soon, I promise!

Sidewalk Art and Doodles do not Mix!

We went to Austin for a family gathering yesterday. Toby stayed in the back yard (house too full of people) while we ate. When I looked out to check on him this is what I saw! My granddaughter, the artist, had done some chalk sidewalk art earlier.

Oh, Toby is wearing a t-shirt because he had a cyst on his chest removed and he kept licking the stitches.

You'll never guess what I saw at Target today!

I did a little shopping at Target today and while walking along saw a big display at the end of an aisle for Bissel "Lift-Off/ Pet" vacuum cleaners. Fine - but wait! Each box had a huge picture of the most adorable doodle - I think maybe on three sides. Now why would they put a representation of our wonderful, mostly NON- SHEDDING, doodles on there? Silly, silly people!!
