Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
So Ricki called the Southern Oregon Humane Society today to find out about 7 doodles that were listed there on Petfinder.
It turns out that the 7 were the last of 28 doodles who were seized from an unlicensed BYB in Northern California. They had been living in filth, were malnourished, and needed veterinary care. Some had open wounds.
Animal Control had scheduled all of them to be euthanized, including puppies, because they simply had nowhere to put them and no funds for vetting them. Southern Oregon Humane Society in Ricki's town of Medford OR stepped in.
22 of the doodles have been adopted, and Ricki reports that she was told the remaining dogs are in no danger and will no doubt also find homes.
If you care about doodles, please watch the video that accompanies this story. It's not the worst we've ever seen. It is important that everyone sees what happens when inexperienced people decide to breed their dogs. Please remember Darth and his friends the next time someone asks about breeding his doodle here in our community.

Yes lets keep this story on the frontline. My heart is broken thinking of all these dogs but am so glad they were saved and will find homes at last.
Thanks for posting this info Karen. It is a sad reminder of what is going on "behind the scenes" in the lives of so many mistreated and ill cared for doodles who are being exploited for a fast buck. I'm so thankful that the Southern Oregon Humane Society here in Medford had the space and means to transport and care for Darth and his friends until they can find homes.
These doodles will have a chance for a happy ending but unfortunately that is not always the case.
Thank you for calling and getting the info, Ricki! You live in a very good place. :)
Thanks for finding these at-risk dogs, Karen--and making sure they were okay. You are the bestest!
I didn't do a thing, but thank you for the kind words, Pat.
Yea for Ricki! Thanks for finding out about these dogs. Such a sad story, but such a great ending!
I always wonder why it's so easy to confiscate animals and close down a breeder some places and then the ones that keep doing it and getting away with it. Does anyone know?
We should all be thankful for the Medford Humane Society for taking Garth and his beautiful pals in.
Wow! That is a lot of doodles! It always amazes my how totally disgusting and greedy people can be at the cost of an innocent life. Thank gosh for the Humane Society there, so glad the dogs are getting adopted out quickly.
Thanks for sharing this Karen. This is what selfishness and greed can do. I'm so thankful that these poor Doodles will have a second chance.
Just breaks my heart that these innocent dogs have known no love or care in their lives. Thank you for posting and thank God for everyone who is helping.
Same here Andrea...NC has no enforceable laws...it is sickening. Thank you for posting Karen.
This is so awful and inhumane. Hard to watch.
