So Ricki called the Southern Oregon Humane Society today to find out about 7 doodles that were listed there on Petfinder.

It turns out that the 7 were the last of 28 doodles who were seized from an unlicensed BYB in Northern California. They had been living in filth, were malnourished, and needed veterinary care. Some had open wounds.

Animal Control had scheduled all of them to be euthanized, including puppies, because they simply had nowhere to put them and no funds for vetting them. Southern Oregon Humane Society in Ricki's town of Medford OR stepped in.

22 of the doodles have been adopted, and Ricki reports that she was told the remaining dogs are in no danger and will no doubt also find homes.

If you care about doodles, please watch the video that accompanies this story. It's not the worst we've ever seen. It is important that everyone sees what happens when inexperienced people decide to breed their dogs. Please remember Darth and his friends the next time someone asks about breeding his doodle here in our community.

I don't think I can watch the video. I am so tired of this kind of stuff happening to innocent animals. Thank you, Ricki, for making the call and thank you, Karen, for posting. I hope every one of these dogs gets a happy ending with a wonderful home.

The video really doesn't show the worst of it; it's all from the Humane Society, after the dogs were safe. It's good to see the shelter staff finally giving them the care and attention they deserve.

I know by not watching it is not helping but I just can't either. I can't even go to Pet Smart on Saturday and see the rescued puppies and dogs in crates...the images stay in my head too long.

Thank God for all of you!

Such a sad story, but I'm glad they are being saved.  They are so cute!

Hats off to the wonderful people who stepped in and saved these lovely dogs---Darth is a doll!

Since I am in California, I want to extend my thanks and appreciation to Oregon for stepping in to save these doodles and find them new homes.

I can't even watch this but thank you for posting this and bringing this out into the light.  I am grateful for the people that continually stick their necks out to help save these dogs.

Colleen, you should watch the video. Big Darth is getting petted and is rolling around on the grass, maybe for the first time in his life. That part made me feel really good for him.

I agree, for once it wasn't sickening but rather sweet! I wish I lived in Medford Oregon so I could go and walk, pet and feed them all as a volunteer!

You're always welcome here Lisa! :)

I am proud of my birth state of Oregon for stepping in and taking care of these doodles. I am so happy they are safe.  The conditions sound deplorable.  I am thankful the DRC didn't have to use all of their resources on this one also.  But this just makes me sick.

Allyson I didn't know you were a native Oregonian!! :) Yes, this would have been a huge undertaking for the DRC especially given that time was such a factor.  The doodles were really in  a crisis situation even after they were removed from the breeder's facility.
