Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

***I have re-opened this discussion******
Please feel free to comment as again there are blog posts that are blurring the line between advertising and legit blogs.

With all due respect to our member breeders.

As I read Forum Posts and Blogs I am finding more and more discussions started by "breeders" that are really just touting their breeding program or showcasing their newest litters.  Many of these people's only contributions to this forum are these postings.

There are places on this forum for this, please use them.

There are many wonderful breeders that are regular contributors, this is not meant to discourage them from continueing to add their valuable insite.

I have closed this discussion - as Clark's thread appropriately follows up on the points raised here.

Thanks for your input.

You did, I see the Orvis link.

I think that's part of DK's advertising program.

i see the link too

Some words trigger links on their own. That's different. And we all have published links to products which we think are worthwhile but for which we receive no remuneration and that's fine too I think.

Andy,  Thank you for taking the time to address this.   It's been on my mind and anytime I see another "self promotion" I think to myself I should comment on it but haven't taken the time nor had the "guts".   Kudos to you!!!!    I think most "seasoned" DK members recognize these people and posts for what they are, but it bothers me for the newbies who haven't been with us long.

Amen, Andy.

It seems to me that Adina needs to discourage these blogs. She does have to approve the postings of blogs after all. Maybe we need a dislike button: ) For now I am just going to try to ignore such blogs.

Notice that these blogs are starting to be ignored.

Thank you for posting this.  I don't blame someone for touting/sharing what they think is wonderful because we all think our 'stuff' is the best ever, but I am uncomfortable when it really is turns out to be just an ad.  I try to rely on people's sense of what is correct and right when they post, but some sellers let  'correct and right' get thrown out the window.  There is a huge distinction between Ginny's loving posts about puppies and a company's posts trying to generate sales.  We have many professional dk members who give us the benefit of their expertise in so many areas but they don't blog ads.

And we also have a Review section for raving about products we love. Product recommendations and information really don't belong in a DK blog.

Photography Group members recommend and discuss cameras and equipment, Grooming Group members discuss and recommend various grooming products, Food Group members recommend and discuss foods and treats,  I have recommended health care products in the Health and Medical Group, too. It's easy to see when someone is sharing helpful information in an appropriate area and not trying to sell something.

I thought I was just being judgmental. Glad to see I'm not alone in questioning the validity or sincerity of some of the blogs.

I agree with what you are saying about certain breeders and  also that there are certain other breeders that I just can't get enough of!  Ginny of course and also Barb in the grooming group have been so helpful. I'm sure there are others but those come to mind.

Ginny isn't a breeder herself though. She has raised litters and even helped in the whelping for the breeder for whom she is a guardian. But that is different I think and I think most of enjoyed watching the pups progress. But there was absolutely no sales pitch there.

Barb has never posted on the main page about her litters as far as I can remember and her group is so valuable.

So these members of our community have been active, considerate members and are above all reproach IMHO.
