We knew it would be too much of a temptation for our 7 month old goldendoodle (and too much work for us) so we skipped the tree this year. Maybe I'll be up to the challenge next year. :-)
LOL...I am not encouraged! Our tree is up, but not decorated. So far, Enzo has pretty much ignored it. I'm hoping it stays that way! She's just 6 months.

X pen = safety for Christmas tree.  Get the black, blends in - I haven't seen a tree outside of a 'fence' in years and it's part of life here.

We used a smaller tree this year and put it up on a table so we wouldn't have to chase Yogi around. Sounds like your pup is playing you, esp if he does it when you are sitting down and not playing with him. xpen sounds like a good idea...

Rut Row, I hope Finnley doesn't get any "bad dog" idea's this year. She was good last year at 7 month's old, but things can change... as you just found out. Good luck, hope things calm down. Stick with it and be firm. You can't not have a Christmas tree ever again because of one crazy, and playful doodle ! Hang in there :)

I did not put up a tree for 2 years, last year was the first year and my Sasha could care less about the tree but my Oliver did break a bunch of ornaments when I was at work.  This year I am not putting up a tree because I am watching a 11 month old doodle and I know for sure he will steal ornaments.  I will decorate but no tree :(  I would rather be safe than sorry.  If you must put up a tree I suggest maybe putting a fence around the three?

If he only does it when you are home, get a soda can and put some pennies in it. When you sit down watch him and when he touches the tree, shake the can and yell NO as loud as you can.  I bet it won't take long for him to get the idea that the tree is not to be touched.  Good luck!

I know it must be frustrating, but quite honestly if you can hang in there and be persistent with the "Leave It" command he will eventually start to get the idea...maybe when you go to sit down on the couch, invite him up with you and give him lots of snuggles and cuddles.  That way he is getting the attention that he is seeking and not getting the opportunity to get into mischief with the Christmas tree.

I feel your pain! We've always had at least three dogs so Christmas can be a challenge. This year we bought a set of cheap shatterproof ornaments for the bottom of the tree. I put the good ornaments out of range. Lol! Beowoof, (4 months old), stole a few of the cheap ornaments and later grabbed the end of the garland. He thought it was great fun! I broke out my florist wire and secured all of the ornaments to the branches. I've done this for years and years to keep expensive ornaments from falling off. While he has tried a few more times to nab them, he's been unsuccessful. :-) The floral wire is green so you can't even see it. It worked great when my daughter was a toddler, too.

Keeping the ornaments on the tree can be a challenge! When our dogs were younger, we decorated only the upper half of the tree. Now they pretty much leave it alone. Our six year old doodle still steals an ornament here and there for old times sake:). Oliver loves to tease us!

For some reason Gibbs is totally not interested in the Christmas Tree and he is only 10 weeks old.  Now toilet paper is a whole different story.  Got out of the shower this morning to a huge pile of tp on the bathroom floor.  He was so happy with himself and what he had done.  He also likes to munch on tp, which I'm assuming is not a good thing to do and it is promptly taken from him.  TP is on going to sit on the back of the toilet until he out grows his fascination with all of that.

that totally made me smile :)  thanks for the chuckle.  gotta love these little troublemakers!
