Now that the weather has warmed up - it is time for a reminder - DON'T LEAVE YOUR ANIMALS (OR CHILDREN) IN A HOT CAR!!!

This was on Facebook from the NJSPCA

To All :  Here are the specific New Jersey Statutes from Title 4 Law dealing with animals left in vehicles........ The Criminal charge is 4:22-17a.3  "leave it unattended in a vehicle under inhumane conditions adverse to the health or welfare of the living animal or creature"  AND the Civil charge is 4:22-26.c  "Inflict unnecessary cruelty upon a living animal or creature by any direct or indirect means or leave it unattended in a vehicle under inhumane conditions adverse to ...the health or welfare of the living animal or creature"  As someone who has removed hundreds of animals from "vehicles that had become ovens" it boggles my mind why humans do this.  Also as someone who has removed animals from cars that had passed because of heat exhaustion and heat stroke I can tell you that those images are forever  in my mind.  To stand next to a vehicle holding a lifeless pup is heart wrenching and life changing. Wishing you had arrived earlier and maybe just maybe that pup would have made it.  If I hear "but I was only in the store for ten minutes" after I was with the car for an hour my head will explode.  Carry these two NJ State Statute #'s with you and let local PD's know there are laws to protect our animals from Jackwagons and Knuckleheads !!!  Capt

I watched a great video on YouTube by a vet who sat in a car on a warm day and timed how long it took until he was sweating and about to pass out from the heat. It really gets the point across well, wish I could remember what he was called!

Here you go:

Thanks Karen!!

Thanks once again for bringing awareness to this issue, Andy.

Thank you both- for bringing this up, and for sharing the video.  It amazes me that people lack the common sense to just leave the dogs at home..

Always an excellent reminder this time of year.

It's hard to believe that people need to be reminded of this.  And EVERY year you hear of someone doing this exact thing.  Come on people!

Thanks for this important reminder.

Good reminder! I remember the vet's video- scary

Me too. :/
