OK, what did you name your Doodle and why? I'll start.

We kinda got the name Penny from the TV show, "Big Bang Theory". It happens to be our favorite show, but that's not why Penny got named Penny. It came from the show, but not 'cause it's our fave. The lead female character on that show is Penny. When we started watching "Big Bang", years ago, DH and I said to one another, "Oh, Penny. That's a cute name". That was the end of that. Fast forward to when we adopted our puppy. We discussed many names; even Googling dog names. Then we said, "It's gotta be Penny! She's a Penny!"

But at first every time we said her name in the beginning we had the urge to knock 3 times. Anyone familiar with the TV show will know that Sheldon always knocks on Penny's door 3 times, saying her name 3 times. At first the "knocking thing" bugged us but that soon passed and we got around to just enjoying the name like we did when we first heard it.

We can't imagine Penny being named anything different.

Cute Story.  Ned was named by my husband for a student that he really liked.  I thought he was naming him after my initials - I was so honored!  He never should have told me the truth!  Ned is also an Australian folk hero like Robinhood.  Clancy was a rescue that came to us with the name of Buck. While Buck is a fine name, it is NOT a good name for calling a dog - like at a dog park. It can be sooooo easily misheard.  So, we had a name contest here on doodlekisses.  Clancy was even Hula for a day because I really liked that suggestion, but it didn't suit him.  He became Clancy.

Chance got his name from a relative who suggested it to me.  He said, "this puppy will bring you good fortune, and so his name should be Chance."  That resonated with me and that was the name I picked.

Meg was a rescue and already named, since we were her fourth home we left it in place because we figured she had enough changes in her life. We often call her Megarita when we are loving on her.   Polly Wolly Doodle got her name because I thought that it  was hilarious to have one.  Turns out that you kind of have to be over a certain age to get it, how was I to know they didn't teach that song in school anymore?  So some people get it and some don't.  On the plus side little kids don't know the song but they think saying it is funny and they repeat it several times.

I always loved the name "Guinness" for a dog...we're Irish and love our Guinness beer.  So that was kind of a "no brainer" for us when we got our first Doodle.  Then almost a year later we "adopted" Murphy from DRC...he already had that name and it just seemed to be a perfect fit so we kept it.

We decided to name our doodle Molly because it was one of the only names all of the members of our family could agree on.  She was born on Christmas Eve, so Molly is also a diminutive form of Mary.  It seems to fit her perfectly.  Molly just seems to fit her personality.  This is a neat survey idea.

My parents had a toy poodle when we were growing up and her name was Penny.  She had a liter of puppies and my Aunt got one of them and named hers Penny also.

Before we got our original doodles we had a toy poodle whose name was Asti (from Asti Spumanti because we got her for our anniversary and we had that at our wedding).  We lost her at 16 y/o and I said never again.  We were both working and traveled a lot and it was a real hassle always having to find someone to watch her as well as we hated leaving her all day.  After awhile I began to miss having a dog around so sort of jokingly I got myself a "virtual" dog.  She was a Great Dane and her name was Lucy.  She was my screen saver and she was adorable, lol!  After awhile one wasn't enough so I got another "virtual" dog.  Her name was Ethel and she was a Yorkie!  Honestly there were some people who thought I actually had dogs.  After we left FL and moved to OH and I stopped working it wasn't long before I started thinking that it might be time to add a "real" dog to the family.  I had my eye on a little white Havanese but DH just didnt want another small dog (I thank him regularly for that now).  Anyway as I started researching larger dogs as I'd never had one in the house before, I discovered the Doodle and thought that might be a good compromise for us.  He had always said if we ever got another dog that we would get two.  So, my plan was one large doodle and one small Havanese.   However, when we went to the breeder to select our Doodle we came home with two.  The Black one, which Mike chose became Lucy.  The little Runt of the liter who was my pick was going to be Ethel, but the name just didn't fit.  Two days later she became Sophie.  So that is how Lucy became Lucy.

After I became addicted to Doodles I was always looking at doodle websites.  I came across AnnaBelle Doodles of New England who raises Australian Labradoodles.  I absolutely fell in love with the look of her Doodles as well as the names that she had chosen for her program.  I always said if for any reason I ever got another that it would be from her program.  Little did I know that I would be looking for another doodle sooner that I thought.  We lost our little Sophie one week after her 5th birthday to cancer and instantly knew we would at some point add another.  However, we were GoldenDoodle people so AnnaBelle Doodles of New England wasn't going to work for us.  However, I still loved her names.  After working through a whole list of those I loved I just settled on AnnaBelle.  We added Hope as her middle name because we said she had big shoes to fill and we Hoped that she could do it.  She has not disappointed.

I am from Denver and an avid Broncos fan. The owner of the team Pat Bowlen has a wife named Annabelle. I thought that was such a sweet name. One day it clicked after seeing Annabelle Bowlen's name in the paper that if I ever got another dog, it would be a female and I would name her Annabelle, that was in 2004. With both of us working it was not a good time to get another dog. We had built a house after Charlie our Golden Retriever died and there was no fence like the last house. We paid a lot of money for the view so why block it with a fence. Still I wanted my dog named Annabelle. I finally got her on October 17th, 2014 after 10 years of waiting. The name had stuck with me all those years.

Congrats to the Broncos for their Super Bowl win. You must be in 7th Heaven!

Thanks yes we are, here is Annabelle getting into the spirit. She watched the game to.

Even though we have 4 dachshunds, we were still mourning the loss of our golden retriever and adopted stray. We lost them both within a year of each other at the ages of 11 and 14; one from kidney failure and the other from a long hard life as a stray. We finally made the decision to get another big dog. My husband met and fell in love with a doodle (we aren't sure if it was a golden or lab) while on a trip and had told me several times that if we ever got another big dog, that was what he wanted. So - decision made - it was time. Now to find the "perfect" one for us. We were driving home on a foggy night and heard a train whistle in the distance and realized that we not far from Vaughn, Mississippi where Casey Jones was killed and became the hero when he saved his passengers on the Cannonball Express. Since we live in Mississippi, we decided to name our new pup Casey to honor him. Cody was named because - well, I just like the name and thought it went well with Casey.

My youngest brother has actually more or less named all my pets now that I think about it. LOL.

My brothers and I thought Tom Hiddleston did an amazing job playing Loki in The Avengers. Loki was a goof as a puppy according to the breeder and seemed to be wandering around on his own agenda so we figured "the god of mischief" would be perfect for him.

For Moose, we were at a friends hunting cabin a week after the puppies were born and they had a moose head mounted on the wall and it was HUGE. We kept referencing that moose and making jokes about it for the next few weeks. So when I got matched with the largest puppy of the litter (largest by far) or the "moose" of the litter, my brother figured it was a no brainer and he had to be named Moose.

Moose's name is still very fitting for him, Loki however is such a well behaved dog and rarely gets into any trouble so that ended up not really suiting him but I still love the name.

On Jan 1, 2011, we put a deposit down on a chocolate litter and immediately started picking out possibly names for him. A week before Valentine's Day 2011, we were sent a photo of the cutest little boy we had ever see - I wanted to name him Romeo.  On the drive home, I just did not feel comfortable calling him that and got out our list of names - Charlie was on the list and when I said Charlie Brown (because he was the color brown), my DH perked right up and said perfect that is it.  I did not even think of it at the time but that is my DH's middle name (so naturally he was thrilled) and it was also my dad' s name.  Two years later we had our deposit down on a parti litter - and hoped for a girl.  There were 8 puppies and only one female in the litter (our little girl was going to be Lucy)!  At 7 weeks when we got the photo of the puppy the breeder picked for us it was an off the charts cute male - that the breeder thought would be a perfect match for Charlie!  We discussed moving on to a later litter and waiting for a girl, but truth be known, I had never had a girl puppy in my adult life and then DH said he preferred a boy so 3 weeks later we pick up Beau.  Again we had the name Humphrey picked out. On the way home, we stopped in downtown Seattle to quickly show Beau to our daughter before we drove 3.5 hrs home.  She came out of her highrise and said can I hold Beauregard (later she said - I thought he looked like a Beau) and that is how he got the name Beauregard. But we seldom call him that - he is Beau or Bobo because he is a total clown!
