Anyone else have stinky dog issues?

Wednesday morning I woke up to find cocoa, her cage and my walls and floor around her cage plastered in poo.  She must have gotten into something that upset her sensitive tummy.

I gave her a bath outside and she still stunk so last night DH gave her a bath and she still stinks... its like this nasty wet dog smell.   Right now she is laying next to me and I am almost gagging on the smell.

Anyone else have this issue where they just can not get their dog to be unstinkie?   Her fur is very thick like wool.

My only thoughts are to call the groomer today and have her hair cut super short and a good bath.

Someone gave me a baking soda, paroxide and dish soap formula for skunk stink, not sure if it will have the same affect on poo stink, but I think I'd rather just go to the groomers. Good luck! I hope she feels better!

I'm thinking if you think she smells like a wet dog, she is prob still wet.  Two baths in short order.  It take Monty hours and hours and hours to dry.  Even when he lies on the deck in the sun with a fan, it still takes hours.  I hate giving him a bath in the winter, takes even longer as my hairdryer is pretty lame against the wet.

Perhaps.  check under her ears.  Even when Monty seems dry he has wet dog smell for awhile.  Is her coat thick?

In the grooming group there are discussions about dogs that smell because they are molding... Their coats can stay wet such a long time. You may need to dry her with a hair dryer but be sure to keep it on cool or you could burn her.

Jack always smells like roses even when he poops :). Or that might be not only am I blinded by his love I am blinded by his smells .....:)

When I worked as a bather for a summer, we would use Dawn Laundry soap on dogs that had rolled in poop or had been sprayed by skunks. It worked well, I can't vouch for it's gentleness on the dogs though. I haven't researched it

For skunk stink pour a few bottles of douche. Cheap, premeasured and works. My groomer told.me about.it when all 3 rubbed up against a shrub that a skunk sprayed. Of course it was early evening and too late for any groomer.

I know someone who swears by this, Adrianne. She lives in an area frequented by skunks and her poodles have NEVER learned to stay away from them.

Well I ended up just having her hair cut.  I know a lot of you don't like it when doodles have short hair but her hair is so thick and curly its hard for up keep.   She smells so good now too :)

Also while she was gone I could still smell it some and started sniffing... my couches STUNK.  I think from her coming in with wet paws and getting on the couches.  So while she was gone I shampooed those as well....BLACK water was coming out.  So I guess I need to that to my list of things to do every other month now.
