Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Wednesday morning I woke up to find cocoa, her cage and my walls and floor around her cage plastered in poo.  She must have gotten into something that upset her sensitive tummy.

I gave her a bath outside and she still stunk so last night DH gave her a bath and she still stinks... its like this nasty wet dog smell.   Right now she is laying next to me and I am almost gagging on the smell.

Anyone else have this issue where they just can not get their dog to be unstinkie?   Her fur is very thick like wool.

My only thoughts are to call the groomer today and have her hair cut super short and a good bath.

Clean doodle, clean couches... time to snuggle up for a nap, I think!

It so doesn't matter what others like or don't like. You have to do what is best for you and your doodle. I cut mine short for all sorts of reasons, and smell would be the top of the list if I had an issue with it. I have one who's hair is so think I can't see her skin at all, the others is thin. I keep them both on the shorter side for upkeep reasons. So glad you have a sweet smelling doodle and couch again. Always amazing what comes out of carpets and upholstery. I keep the couch covered now. Much easier.

Even with her hair super short I can not see her skin.

Actually as I was cutting out mats between Murphy's toes last night, I though about being overdo for a grooming. I do it myself too and love that time with them. It's only hard finding the time to do it.

I keep Sophie's hair fairly short and I think it looks good on her. I just can't keep up with all the brushing between the two of them, and hers mats more easily than Winnie's. I recently cut her hair myself, with a pair of scissors. It was a hack job for sure but it saved me $100 and she'll always be adorable in my eyes anyway. Don't worry how others feel about it, do what works best for you.

I'm glad Cocoa is all nice and clean now. :)

Its only $38.00 to have her groomed since she is a smaller doodle... it would be $58.00 if she was a large one.

But yes time is a HUGE issue around here with me working full time from home with a 10mo old doodle, 4mo old baby & almost 5yr old daughter.

Tigger has really thick hair and stays wet after swims a long time.  To get rid of the smell I use a medicated dog shampoo and let it set lathered up on him about ten minutes before I rinse.  I bought it from the vet because although it was expensive it works and does not need to be used every time.
