A few pups in the litter i am raising have one or both lower canine teeth (baby teeth right now) that are growing up and hitting the upper palate instead of going to the OUTSIDE of the upper jaw--I have been told that the puppy teeth that are doing that should be removed and then you hope that the jaw grows wider and the adult teeth are properly placed....has anyone dealt with this in their pup and if so, how did it turn out?

I see you contacted Debb, whose Oscar had the same thing. She is probably the best person to help with this. Maybe send her a friend request and a message?

Hi. My daughter's dog had this issue when he was a puppy. (Interestingly, he's a red labradoodle.) If I remember correctly, she put some peanut butter on the ball to encourage him to want to chew on it. The ball therapy worked to some degree, but he had to have one of his canine teeth filed down a bit, so that it didn't bunk on his upper gums.

For what it's worth, Charlie had a base narrow canine. The vet offered to take it out to the tune of $300 when he was 9 weeks old, but I decided to wait a few weeks. I checked on it every day, and it very quickly moved to a more appropriate position, and his adult teeth are in alignment as expected. I definitely would have had it removed if it was truly going to cause a long term problem.

This is an anecdote, and doesn't apply to every situation, but it worked out for us to let it be.
