Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi everyone....

I'm new to DK and we are getting our labradoodle puppy on March 16th!!  Our pup will be a cream colored little girl.  I'm completely obsessing over names (among other things!).  I understand that you all love playing the name game, so I'm hoping you'll feel like weighing in on our top 3 choices. I can't decide between Lupin (one of my favorite spring flowers), Marin (from Marin Co, CA which we love) and Mango (funny, goofy tropical name).  And if anyone has any off-beat names to suggest....I'm all ears!

The puppies are adorable. I love food names, so I vote for Mango!

I love Mango...But when I first read your post I automatically thought (since you are getting her right before St Patty's Day)  was  Patty

Congrats on the new baby..she's a cutie!  And welcome to DK

Cute idea Elizabeth, my other favorite would be "Mango"

St. Paddy's Day. Patty is a girl's name. :)

I vote for Mango too. I think vowel sounds at the end of dog names : )

Mango for me

Maybe you can create a name that has a St Patty's-esq about it since that's about the time you'll be bringing her home. Out of the 3 you chose I like Marin or Mango. Not that I don't like Lupin but it's awfully close to Lupus which isn't nearly as cute as a reference as a Mango :)

Here are some St Patricks Day themed names I think are cute:

Maewyn (St Patricks actual birth name but could be for girl or boy- nickname Mae, Maeby Baby, Wynnie... you could do alot with this name)

Clover

Clove

Emerald (Emmie nickname)

Greenleigh

March

Shamra

Lore

Trinity

Out of all of those I think Maewyn is my favorite because it is so unique :)

I like Maewyn also.  She could also be Winnie (short for Maewyn).  I don't like Mango because I am allergic to mangoes.  Lots of good ideas but I like the St. Patrick's flair.  Lupin?  I love the flowers also, but not a dog's name. And they are so blue or purple.  She is creme colored, so how about Daffodil or Edelweis.  Just thinking.

I remember an article about dog names ending in vowel sounds being easiest for them to hear, I think. I'm sure there is info on google on it. I vote for Mango too. Has a cute ring to it.

I just realized that all of my pets names have ended in a vowel sound and I didn't even realize it- Sway (RIP), Riley, Goldie, Molly... wow apparently I really like the ee sound.

You have good dog name instincts Star.

Wow..thanks for the input.  I love hearing everyone's opinions.  I didn't even realize we were bringing her home around St Patty's day...definitely must consider a fun Irish name.  Mango is our top choice too so its fun to see its the favorite here as well!
