Tonight I smelled a smell the likes of which I have never smelled before. Something akin to rotting fish, but worse...more like rotting fish tangled in rotting seaweed marinating in a toxic spill. …Continue

So all day today Lupin has been wretching. More often than not its not productive, but I have probably cleaned up 6 puddles of water/mucus. She is more mellow than usual, but is eating and pottying…Continue

This is a quick read from IDOG website. My breeder gave me this when I picked up my first puppy Charlie. It helped me through some rough puppy patches.

Let me know if you have problems opening this document.
My first comment refers to what I said as part of the puppy name discussion--sorry!
Oh, I just read your answer from Feb 23 below and I see that you have been to the breeder's--good! Some people order a pup over the internet and are inadvertently supporting a puppy mill.....
Hi all...thanks so much for your concern about my little one's allergies. My neighbor has an F1 labradoodle and before we decided on a breeder I brought him over to our house for a few hours at a time every couple days for weeks. Since it took K awhile to warm up to Parker (he's HUGE!) I would pet the dog and then pet my kiddo. I even got Parker to lick my hands and I wiped it on my kiddo's face. (this makes me sound like the worst/weirdest mom in the world but I'm pretty risk-averse). When we found our breeder we took a little visit so K could hang out with their dogs and the puppies, including the parents of our puppy-to-be. No reaction...not to any of it. So I'm feeling pretty confident. I do understand that no dog is hypoallergenic though. In the unlikely even that K reacts to the pup, our breeder will take her back. Heart-break all around, but I'm pretty sure won't happen.
Again, thanks for everyone's concern and thanks for the warm welcome to DK!
Welcome to DK, Bridget!! Best of luck in your search. Like others have said, keep researching and work with your breeder to make sure that your little one doesn't have a reaction. Unfortunately, doodles are not as 'allergy friendly' as they seem to be advertised. You can search through the main forum and the groups and find several discussions among DK members who have doodles that trigger allergies in them or friends/family/etc.
Keep us posted!!! And let us know what name you decide on. My vote is for an offbeat name. I let my 2 year old name our dog. She came up with Goldie Noodle McDoodle. I wanted Umi but I honored what she chose ;)
I came in here to warn you that numerous doodles are not allergy friendly. I see Nancy has already been here.
Please, before you heart breaks and your dog has a broken heart from loosing its home and family, do more research.
My best wishes to you.
Welcome to Doodle Kisses Bridget! This is a wonderful site with great information, groups, discussions and everyone is so helpful and supportive. Be sure and post pictures when you get your new Doodle:) Have fun on DK!
This may not be news to you, but just in case - you are aware that doodles are not necessarily allergy friendly? My suggestion is to have the breeder rub a cloth on the puppy and send it to you so you can have your son sleep with it. Also did you know that doodles have a coat change from the puppy coat to the adult coat and sometimes this changes the allergy situation.
Welcome! This is a great place to learn/share about doodles. There are many groups that you can join. For example, there are groups for grooming, nutrition, health/medical, types of doodles, puppy groups etc. Look at the top of your page and click on Groups - check them out. Enjoy!
