I'm curious... Where does your doodle sleep? If you say in your bedroom, does he/she sleep on your bed? Or on the floor?
I love when my doodle sleeps with me. This is a new occurance but I do love it! He's a big boy about 70lbs. So when he's on the bed he takes up a lot of space. My problem is he's still young and a restless sleeper and is now starting to get on and off the bed multiple times a night which is really starting to interupt what little sleep I get. I don't want to have to put him back in the kitchen, where his ex-pen is but I'm now a night 4 of no sleep... Any suggestions?

My Shelby sleeps in my bedroom.... and sleeps in a variety of locations. On the bed, under the bed, on her bed on the tile floor in the bathroom. Fortunately - she's a good sleeper... and we have a consistent bedtime routine - she knows when it's time to settle down for the night. I also have the benefit that she is only 40 pounds so we she gets on/off the bed at night - I don't wake up.... and I know she does because I'll wake up and she is somewhere different.
Riley always starts off on the bed but quickly settles either under it or in his own bed on the floor, occasionally he will go to his crate too, but he sleeps all night and we don't hear him or are disturbed by him. He also knows when it's time to settle and each morning at about 7 I'm woken by him lying on top of me and licking my face! I think if he was jumping on and off the bed all night that would disturb me and I don't know what you can do about that. I think they move about because they get too warm and need to go somewhere cooler.
I do think it's because he's hot. But it's so frustrating! I'm a very light sleeper and more than not once I'm awakened I can't fall back asleep for hours. The thing is he gets so excited at bed time because he LOVES sleeping near me. When it get's even close to bed time he's on high alert and will run for the stairs if I even look like I'm getting off the couch to go up stairs for the night. It's so adorable! I need to video it because nothing compares to his face when he looks at me from the stair landing to see if I'm going to go up with him. This makes it even harder to have to put him in the kitchen but I'm starting to get grumpy during the day and no one wants any of that!
Trixie has the funniest bedtime Routine.
Since she was a puppy we let her lay with us in bed while we watched the news. (we picked her up for months & Put her back on the floor too- so she wouldnt be jumping onto our high bed at a young undeveloped age) When it was time for bed dh would lift her down & she slept on the bedroom floor...As a puppy she moved around alot & slept in several places during the night. (yes, she was always too hot as a puppy)
Now she still gets that cuddle time. (shes 15 months) She jumps onto the bed...But at bed time we say Ok Trixie And she stands up & waits for dh to lift her off. It is so cute to watch. (during the day if she jumps on the bed- she jumps right off too)
She moves around a bit at night- but not nearly as much as she did when she was a puppy. She starts on her bed...then moves near the door ...In the morning she is back on her bed.
Kona gets on the bed while we are settling in. When we turn off the tv he jumps down to sleep on the floor. Kona has gone through stages where he will ask to get back on the bed around 4 am. (He never jumps up on the bed without permission. He is just a very "polite" doodle.) I wasn't thrilled with the 4 am thing, but it didn't last long. No suggestions here on how to stop the roaming. I am sorry you are not getting a good rest. ugh
Cooper sleeps on the floor next to the bed. She starts out on DHs side, near the window which is always open a crack. She moves during the night to my side. If its warm she will sleep in the bathroom. She also has a routine - she knows to go to bed as soon as I brush my teeth.
Gavin has precisely the same routine Kaytlin!
We let our girls come in for about 30 mins of snuggle time then they go to their room to sleep for the night. I agree they get too hot in the bed. The only thing I can think of is are you crating in the kitchen area or is that just blocked off for him at night. If you are crating, you could always move the crate to your bedroom and then after a little snuggle time move him to the crate.
Ours both sleep in our bed and hog it all up. They are minis so if they jump off we really don't wake up. I can imagine that's loud
if he's 70# We also have a baby gate in front of the gate so they don't roam, is that something you could try?
Baily looks as big as my Dempsey! And he is a hog too! So cute!
