I really think it's more about finding the best boarding situation than the actual age.  I wouldn't board a puppy who was still being "assimilated" into the household, but once the pup was housebroken and displaying normal behaviors (no separation anxiety) I would be okay boarding for two nights....in the right setting.

Bring her to my house. Or, look for a DK member who is close to you that might love a doggie house guest for a few days!
I recently had to attend a family wedding out of state and couldn't take my 4 mos old puppy. My daughter referred me to the site dogvacay.com. It works like vrbo (vacation rentals by owner) except these are people who will keep your dog in their own home. You can go on the site and read a brief synopsis about the home care.... About the person, what their requirements are, and ratings from others who have used them. I found the cutest young couple, who live about 3 miles from me (bonus). I contacted her, and Murphy and I went over for a meet and greet. She was wonderful. In fact, since Murphy was such a young puppy, she blocked her calendar so she wouldn't have any other dogs that weekend. ( I think her limit at any given time was 3 dogs). They also sent pics and text messages to let me know how Murphy was doing. It was a good experience and I would certainly do it again.

I just looked up dogvacay.com and found what looks like the perfect home one town over.  we are planning a trip to visit my son in Orlando.  thanks for the tip!

Another vote for dogvacay!  We found a couple who work out of there home and have a large lot.  They are landscapers.  And for some reason they are willing to take my three doodles!  I actually think they like the dogs.  ;)  My three are a handful and I am so incredibly pleased that we found these dog sitters through dogvacay.

I love this idea and just signed up to be a hostess family.

Good for you Joanne.  We actually take care of some doodles from San Jose (an hour away) when their families are on vacation.  They are wonderful dogs and we met them before they came to stay with us.  Actually, all of us were members of DK and went to doodle romps with IDOG.  They are in the NorCal group and we have worked it out really well.  Our area is all set up for dogs and Harpo is in heaven when he has somebody who will wrestle with him all day long.  Meet the dogs before they come to stay with you and see if they get along with your dog (can't imagine him not loving the company).  Works for us.  Oh, BTW, we keep in contact daily with e-mails and photos.  I even make books (Shutterfly) and do Smileboxes of our adventures while they are on vacation.  Both our boarders have even taken swimming lessons with our dogs.  Take a look at my photos and you can see them walking on the bike tow leashes and swimming at the canine rehab center.

Great ideas, Lynda. I do have a webcam I set up for the fosters to see how they would act when I left, etc.  So I offered moments for them

I do want to meet the dogs first and of course, set up a meet and greet.  We shall see. I really cant get another dog right now ( or maybe I dont want to get one) but I do have the room to have them as guests.

My only concern is my cats

Not sure where you live, but I would adore having a house guest named LUIGI!!!
