I hate it when Bodi has an issue and can't tell me what hurts!  This evening he started limping - won't put weight on his back paw.  His tail keeps a-waggin . . . . and we keep getting kisses, but he is having a hard time on the steps and getting on the couch.  What's a doodle mom to do? Worry . . . .yes, I'm good at that!!

Have you examined his paw for any injury or cuts or something stuck in it?

Yes Sue.  We don't see anything.

Oh dear, poor Bodi--I hate to sound like a broken record, but around here in upstate NY everyone and their dogs has had Lyme disease and every time my dogs got it, it is was during a warm spell in February. I never found the tick as the Lyme disease ticks are tiny. The ticks and the disease are spreading westward, so it is something to keep in mind--their paws often get sensitive and they do not want to put weight on them. The also have a hard time jumping up or climbing stairs. The last time one of my dogs had it, it took 3 months before she would jump up on the bed...
.

On the other hand, when I groom doodles, I often find clumps of hair between the paw pads that can be like little pebbles under their feet--do that could be it too.

I just took a tiny tick off Luca tonight.

OK - OHIO DK members - do we have these ticks here??

does he yelp at all if you touch different parts of his leg or if you move it?

No - he is very quiet!

It sounds more like an issue with the leg itself than with the paw. I personally would have the vet take a look at him if this continues tomorrow. I hope it's nothing serious.

Sounds like a trip to the vet is in order.  Could be a sprain, but it when Camus acted the same way it turned out to be a broken bone in his paw (back paw).  One minute he was running, the next he was sitting down and when I coaxed him up he walked 3-legged.  I hope it is nothing serious, but if he is still not putting weight on it in the morning I  would have it checked.

I hope he's better by tomorrow.

I agree--trip to the vet is probably the thing to do and it may give you peace of mind.  Get well soon, Bodi!

You said he was running and then sat down?  Maybe he hurt his ankle, sprained a muscle, or pinched a nerve.  If so, it should be better in  a few days.
