Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
We decided to help a local shelter by becoming a foster home in special needs situations (they don't typically do fosters, but have a few people on hand for when circumstances arise).
In this case, they had an 8 week old puppy they didn't want to keep in the shelter (for immunity and socialization purposes). So we've been her home for the past 2 weeks, while they vet adoption applications, etc.
Anyways, BB has been AMAZING with her in every way. His temperament has just shone through these past two weeks, and we love him even more for it. <3<3<3
I wanted to stop by here to share the cuteness and brag on my amazing doodle.

I couldn't get the video to work, but it's wonderful that you are fostering, and heartwarming that this puppy has BB to teach her what she needs to know about being a good dog and a loved companion. Her future family will reap the rewards. Bravo to you both.
Thank you! I agree, its heartbreaking thinking such a young puppy could be in a "kennel" waiting for her home at such a critical learning time.
I think Adina needs to approve the video first, but it should play fine once she does.
Thanks, F! Nice to see you!
Cute photos. Thank you for taking the time to help this young cute puppy. Your doodle is being so patient.
Thank you, Linda! His patience seems endless. (much more than mine!)
Wow, he's already that huge at 10 weeks old? How much does he weigh? He's just adorable! Are you considering adopting him ... possibly ... maybe? :O)
My BB is the black one. He's 5 years old and about 65 lbs. The little one is a mix and she's only about 12lbs at 10 weeks. I think that is about what BB was at her age. I do think she will be a "big" dog though.
We aren't planning on adopting another right now, and if we did we wouldn't be able to foster when the need arises, so my hope is to find a family who will allow for playdates with BB.
So few people understand that when a foster keeps the dog, they may no longer be able to help the next homeless dog who needs saving. This rescue is very lucky to have you.
I hope you will consider submitting a foster app with DRC. We could sure use you and BB. :)
Karen, I would LOVE to foster for DRC. I thought at one point I looked into it, and a physical fence was required, which we don't have. Is that the case?
Fences are not required as long as there are no children under 16 in the home. Just no e-fences. There are some dogs who have never been on leash, usually breeding dogs from BYBs or puppy mills, and for those, a fenced yard would probably be necessary. But for most of the rehomes and for the younger puppies, it's not required.
Submitted! :-] Thanks for reminding/encouraging me! A doodle foster will be MUCH harder to part with ;-]
